SUNYAC Men's Soccer: #22 Oneonta State Red Dragons @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals October 9th 2024
Oneonta State's AJ Lucas (gk) with the one-hand save that he sends over the net for the save. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would return home after an extended road trip and take on a SUNYAC foe like the #22 Oneonta State Red Dragons as they battle at the league's top. The teams would go back and forth throughout the first half of the game, with both teams having their chance to get the opening goal, but there would be no score in the first half. When the teams returned for the second half, the Cardinals would break the ice in the 75th minute on Brian Coughlan's third goal to make it a 1-0 game. It wouldn't take long for the Cardinals to extend their lead to 2-0 on Modou Badjie's second goal of the season in the 78th minute. From there, the Cardinals would stand tall, hold on for the 2-0 win, and improve their record to 7-1-3, while the Oneonta State Red Dragons would fall to 7-2-3. The Cardinals will return to action this Saturday as they trek across the state and take on the Buffalo State Bengals. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Modou Badjie (10) with the slide tackle on Oneonta State's Joe Holder (11) to break up the scoring attempt. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would return home after an extended road trip and take on a SUNYAC foe like the #22 Oneonta State Red Dragons as they battle at the league's top. The teams would go back and forth throughout the first half of the game, with both teams having their chance to get the opening goal, but there would be no score in the first half. Plattsburgh State's Tristan Laundree (2) splits a pair of Fredonia midfielders as he goes on the attack for his second goal of the game. The #17 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would open up conference play at home against the Fredonia State Blue Devils on homecoming weekend with 200 fans in attendance. The home Cardinals would get the opening goal of the match in the 16th minute from John Hayes his eighth of the season to make it a 1-0 game. Then just four minutes later in the 20th minute the Cardinals would expand on the lead and make it a 2-0 game on Tristan Laundree's third of the season and that's where the game would stay til the teams entered the half. When the teams returned for the second half the Blue Devils would come out on fire and get on the board in the 51st minute on Frederick Butler's second goal of the season. From there though the Cardinals' defense would be in shutdown mode and they would hold on for the 2-1 victory. In the winning effort, the Cardinals goalkeeper would make 2 saves as they stayed undefeated at 6-0-2. The Cardinals will return home next weekend as they continue in conference play against the Morrisville State Mustangs. Gallery

The #17 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would open up conference play at home against the Fredonia State Blue Devils on homecoming weekend with 200 fans in attendance. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals Men's Soccer would return to the field house soccer complex for the first time in three weeks ranked 17th in the national and would play host to the R.P.I. Engineers from the Liberty League. The match would be tight through the first half as both teams would take their chance and get the opening goal of the match but that would not happen in the first half. The opening goal would finally come in the 61st minute when the Cardinals' Tristan Laundree would score from inside the 18-yard box. The Cardinals going off the adrenaline of the goal would add to their lead just 7 minutes later on the John Hayes goal in the 68th minute. From there, the Cardinal's defense would stand tall, not allow anything from the Engineers, and get the 2-0 win. In the winning effort, Teddy Healy would get the shutout victory as they stay undefeated at 5-0-2 while the Engineers would fall to 2-4 on the season. The Cardinals will look to see if they can stay undefeated as they enter SUNYAC play Saturday against the Fredonia State Blue Devils. Gallery
