Plattsburgh State's Ciara Wall plays the puck from a knee to get the shot on net. It would be the #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals hosting the Buffalo State Bengals in the Northeast Women's Hockey League at the Stafford Ice Arena. The game would start off good for the home Cardinals as they would get off to the quick 1-0 lead on a goal from Nicole Unsworth at the 2:12 mark of the first period. Then at the 8:36 mark of the period the Cardinals would extend there lead to 2-0 on the Ivy Boric goal. Then to finish off the scoring in the opening period Julia Masotta would light the lamp at the 15:34 mark on the powerplay to take a 3-0 to end the first period. To start the second period Ivy Boric would get her second goal of the game just 1:31 into the period for the 4-0 lead. Then at the 7:13 mark of the second period Clara Wall would score on the powerplay for the 5-0 lead. From there defense would be the name of the game as the Cardinals would get the 5-0 victory as they go to 6-0 on the season as the Bengals fall to 0-5. Gallery
St. Lawerence Saints @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals November 8th 2022
Plattsburgh State's Ankush Malhotra (21) with the runner down the lane that he sends his defender to the ground. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be back in action tonight against fellow north country foe as they would take on the St. Lawrence Saints. The game would not start off the greatest though for the home Cardinals as they would be playing catch up with the Saints throughout the half and the Saints would have a 41-33 lead after the first half. When the teams would come back for the second half the Cardinals would try the best to keep the game close as it would be under a five point defecit a few times in the half but that would be cloest they could get as the Saints would win the half 36-32 and hold on for the 77-65 win. Although the Cardinals would lose Kevin Tabb would lead all scores with 22 points as the Cardinals fall to 1-2 while the Saints would get there season started with a win. Gallery

The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be back in action tonight against fellow north country foe as they would take on the St. Lawrence Saints. The game would not start off the greatest though for the home Cardinals as they would be playing catch up with the Saints throughout the half and the Saints would have a 41-33 lead after the first half. When the teams would come back for the second half the Cardinals would try the best to keep the game close as it would be under a five point deficit a few times in the half but that would be closet they could get as the Saints would win the half 36-32 and hold on for the 77-65 win. Plattsburgh State's Bri Brousseau (40) with the runner down the lane to get the shot off. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be back in action tonight against north country foe the St. Lawrence Saints in non-conference action at Memorial Hall on the SUNY Plattsburgh campus. The game would start well for the home Cardinals, who doubled up the Saints at the end of the first quarter with a 16-8 lead. Then, in the second quarter, the Saints would come charging back with a 19-10 quarter and had a slim 27-26 lead at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter, the Cardinals found their shot again, outscoring the Cardinals 16-12 and taking a 42-39 lead into the final quarter. In the final quarter, the Saints would find their shot and have a slightly better quarter, 21-16, which would give the Saints the 60-58 win. In the losing effort, an air of Cardinals led all scorers with 14 points, as Mya Smith and Hannah Ruberto went to 2-2 on the season. Gallery

The celebration is at Plattsburgh State as the Cardinals would get the overtime win. It would be the classic women's hockey rivalry, as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Norwich Cadets; this time, there would be added stakes, as both teams were ranked in the top ten in the early stages of the season. The Cadets of Norwich would get the scoring started with 8 minutes left in the first period on the Morgan Tefft goal and the 1-0 lead. That is where the game would stay until the 1:49 mark of the second period, when the Cardinals' Mae Olshansky fouled. Then, just about 90 seconds left in the period, Nicole Unsworth scored on the 2-1 lead. That is where the game would stay until we hit the 9:12 mark of the second period, when the Cadets tied the game on Taylor Girouard's goal. That is where the game would stay until there were 2:53 left in the game, when Sara Krauseneck went to the Cardinals, who took the 3-2. Then the Cadescored two goals in 28 seconds, including goals by Nikki LaGue and Taylor Girouard, and took a 4-3 lead with two minutes left in the game. While the Cardinals were on the penalty kill, they pulled the goalie, and with 19 seconds left, Mattie Norton scored to tie the game at four. In that overtime frame, Plattsburgh from Norwich Cadet would get the game winner with just over 90 seconds in the game. In the winning effort, the Cardinals took a 5-4 win in Tookfort, CA. SUNYAC Men's Hockey #3 Genesseo State Knights @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals November 12th 2022

Plattsburgh State's Bennett Stockdale (15) comes in on the penalty shot attempt during overtime looking to send the home crowd home happy with the win. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would finish off the weekend by welcoming the #2 Genesseo State Knights into the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena for a SUNYAC off a successful night the previous night bidding for the upset. The game would start off good for the upset minded Cardinals as they would get the opening goal of the game with 4:15 left in the first period on the Cory Doney goal and the 1-0 lead. Although the lead would short lived as the Knights would tie the game just 52 seconds into the second period on the power play goal from Matthew Doran. The game would stay there all the way til the 4:28 mark of the third period when the Knights take the lead at 2-1 on the Morgan Peter goal. Although the Cardinals would not give up the fight and would get the tying goal with the extra man with just 25 seconds left in the game. The teams would head to the overtime and play three on three and there would be no decider and the game would end in a 2-2 tie. Jacob Hearne would make 35 saves on the night as the Cardinals go to 3-1-2 on the season. The Cardinals will be back in action next weekend as they will host the Fredonia Blue Devils and the Buffalo State Bengals. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Jacob Hearne (31) stares down the shot as he would make the save as part of a 35 save night. SUNYAC's Men's Hockey Brockport State Golden Eagles @ Plattsburgh State Cardinals February 11th 2022

Plattsburgh State's Jack Ring (22) with the revound goal in front of the net as part of a two goal game as the Cardinals get the 9-2 win. It would be the home opener for the Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they would take on the Brockport State Golden Eagles in SUNYAC action. The game would start off well for the Cardinals as they would get on the board just 44 seconds into the game on the goal by Luk Jirousek. The game would stay there til the 9:51 mark of the period when Brendan Young would light the lamp for the 2-0 game. The with 3:27 left in the period jack Ring would score on the rebound with the powerplay goal to make it 3-0 to end the period. Then as the second period Ryan Hogg would strike would score twice in 27 seconds at the four minute mark to expand the lead to 5-0. Then at the 7:47 mark of the period Bennett Stockdale would tickle the the twine and the Cardinals would take a 6-0 lead. Just 45 seconds later though Jacob Modry would score on the power play and make it 7-0 game. As the game just past the halfway mark of the game Bennett Stockdale would score again and take a 8-0 lead. The Golden Eagles would finally break up the Cardinals rush and shutout as Scott Ramaekers scores to make it 8-1. Thats where the game would stay til the 5:32 mark of the third when Jack Ring would get his second goal of the game to make it 9-1. Although just 50 seconds later the Golden Eagles would score from Matt Anastasio to make it a 9-2 game. From there the defenses would hold down the rest of the game and the Cardinals would get the 9-2 win. In the winning effort Eli Shiller would make 21 saves on the night as the Cardinals go to 3-1-1 while the Golden Eagles fall to 2-2 on the season.
