The Peabody Padres would host the Fourth Ward Cardinals in Week of 8 The Champlain Valley Baseball League with first place on the line. The Padres would take the 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI single by Shane Perrotte. The Cardinals would tie the game up at one in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Will Flynn. The Padres would take the lead back at 2-1 in the fifth when Matt Hart would score on a fielder's choice. Then in the sixth, the Padres would finish off the game with Brady Burleigh RBI triple to secure the 3-1 victory. In the winning effort, Matt Rivers would go seven innings give up 1 run on 1 hit while striking out 6. In the second game, the Cardinals would take the quick 1-0 lead on a Joe Tolosky fielder's choice. The Padres would tie the game up in the bottom of the first with an RBI single by Jeff Norton. Then in the fourth inning, the Cardinals would get two runs to make it 3-1 on a sacrifice fly to score Ben Weightman, and then Eric Dwyer would score on a double steal. From there on the Cardinals would shut the Padres down for the 3-1 win and get the split on the day.
