The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would come up on the short end of a 3-2 contest against the Elimra College Soaring Eagles in a battle of two top 10 teams in the nation. Plattsburgh State would get the opening score by Kayla Colang to take the 1-0 lead 7 minutes into the first period. The Soaring Eagles would answer quickly back with the tying goal 2 minutes later. Then at the 14 minute mark of period they would take the 2-1. The Cardinals Kylie Klassen would tie the game at 2 with 30 seconds remaining in the first. The Soaring Eagles would get the game winner just a minute into the second period for the 3-2 victory. With the lose the Cardinals take their first loss of the season falling to 7-1 and with the win the Soaring Eagles improve to 8-2-1 and are tied atop the conference standings. Gallery

They would come up short with a 71-59 defeat to the Oneonta State Red Dragons. The Cardinals would open up conference play on the short end to the New Paltz Hawks 67-55. Turnovers would be the Cardinals downfall every time they would start to get close they would lose the ball and the Wildcats would go on a run. Plattsburgh State's Errol Daniyan (4) wins the opening tip of the game New Paltz's Peter Carmel (42) and the start of the SUNYAC season was underway. The defending SUNYAC champions would pick up right where they left off last season as they beat the Hawks 87-73. The Cardinals run and gone style of offense would be the key to the victory as the Hawks just couldn't keep up in the late going. Carl Munnerlun would lead the way with 29 points. Gallery

Cardinals celebrate there primelink title

The Plattsburgh State Cardinals celebrate as they would be crowned the 2010 Primelink Great Northern Shootout Champions over the #1 ranked Norwich Cadets in front of the home crowd. The game would be tied at o after the 1st period. Then the Cardinals would take the 1-0 lead just two minutes into the 2nd period on the Eric Satim goal. The Cadets would answer right back to tie the game at 1 three minutes later. The Cadets would take the 2-1 8 minutes into the third. Then the Cardinals would score two goals in just over a minute from Nick Jensen and Matt Bessing to capture the title 3-2. In the winning effort John Leis stops 29 shots and Eric Satim was named the tournament MVP. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Paul Puglisi (5) shot on net slices right by the St. John's defender on the way to the net. The game would turn into a shootout as the Cardinals would get the 7-4 win. The two teams would score early and often in the first period combining for 5 goals and the Cardinals would trail 3-2 on goals from Cody Adams and Dylan Adams. In the 2nd period the Cardinals would get three unanswered goals to lead 5-3 on goals from Eric Satim, Vick Schlueeter and Patrick Jobbs. In the third period the Cardinals would finish off the Johnnies for the 7-4 win on goals from Dan Sliasis & Dylan Clarke (2nd of the night). In the winning effort John Leis would stop 22. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Kyle VanDermale (18) and the Morrisville defender with the big hip check at the blue line as the Cardinals were charging. The #8 Plattsburgh State Cardinals were upset by Morrisville State 3-2 for the home opener of the 2010-2011 hockey seasons. The downfall for the Cardinals would be that had a hard time staying out of the penalty box and the Mustangs capitalized with two power play goals (2-8 on the night). Along with not being able to get there power play going as they went 1-9 on the night with the man up. The cardinals will home to get back on the right track next weekend as they will host Buffalo State and Fredonia. Gallery

October 9th 2010

Team Photo as they celeberate there Empire Football League Title

It was 20 years in the making as the Plattsburgh North Stars celebrate their first ever Empire Football League Championship with a 13-10 win over the Watertown Red & Black to avenge last years defeat in the title game. The North Stars would take the early 3-0 lead on Mitch Ryder's 40 yard goal. The lead would hold until midway through the second quarter when the Red & Black would answer with 10 unanswered point to take the 10-3 lead into the locker room. In the third quarter the North Stars would trim into the deficit on a Mitch Ryder field goal that squeaked over the cross bar to make it 10-6 Red & Black. The North Stars would get the game winning score 4 minutes into the fourth quarter Touchdown reception by Trevor St. Clair. The Red & Black did have a chance to send it into overtime as they pushed a 30 yard field goal attempt wide with 17 seconds remaining and with the celebration was on. Gallery

The Plattsburgh North Stars would waste very little time in taking care of the Amsterdam Zephyrs in the Empire Football League Semi-Finals. The North Stars would go for the 31-0 victory. In the winning effort Kenny Stay would throw for three touchdown passes and they would get another on the ground. With the convincing victory the North Stars would step up a rematch of last years Empire Football League Championship with the Watertown Red & Black expect this time it will be in Plattsburgh as they look to avenge last years 6-0 defeat.Gallery

The local area snow sled clubs from Ellenburg, Plattsburgh, Peru and Saranac held there 4th annual sled drags for the third year at the Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY. There were around 35 competitors in the 16 different classes that competed to benefit the different clubs. Everyone was very pleased with the turn out and is looking forward to next years races. September 11th 2010

Plattsburgh North Stars Earl Parks (#33) with the leg wrap tackle behind the line to stop Vermont Ice Storm's (#3) before he started. The Plattsburgh North Stars would use late 4th quarter heroic's to get the 21-20 win over the Vermont Ice Storm in clinching there first regular season title in franchise history. The North Stars would jump to an early 7-0 lead on Trevor St. Clair. Then the Ice Storm would respond with touchdowns of their own to take the 14-7 lead. Then late in the third quarter Kenny Stay would hit Trevor St. Clair again for his second touchdown on the night to tie the game at 14. Then late in the 4th quarter the Ice Storm would get go ahead touchdown although the North Stars would block the extra point to keep the lead at 20-14. The on in suing drive Kenny Stay would hit Jordan Keleher for a 33 yard touchdown and would make the point to give the North Stars a 21-20 victory and clinch the regular season title and home advantage in the playoffs. Jordan Lustik and Silver Bullet walking it out the gate in the Super Stock Open shooting a rooster tail about thirty feet in the air. At the end of the event Jordan Lustik would be officially named the 2010 Super Stock Open champion his ninth NTPA Grand National title. The NTPA would bring four classes to Essex Junction, VT with the Super Stock Open and Super Semis Grand National level and on the regional level they would have the four wheel and two wheel drive truck classes with 30 hooks over the four classes. The annual demolition derby returned to the Franklin County Fair in Malone, NY in front of another packed grandstands. Their would be 90 cars that would take part in the second night of derby action. Plattsburgh North Stars Shane Racette (39) with the strong one leg tackle in the open to bring the Vermont Ice Storm ball carrier. It wouldn't be enough though as the North Stars suffer there first lose of the season by a score of 20-10. The first half of the game would be a defensive game as the North Stars would cling to a 3-0 at the break. In the second half is where most of the scoring would come though the Ice Storm would take a 6-3 lead on the touchdown. The North Stars would answer right back though with a touchdown pass to take a 10-6. In the end though the Ice Storm would be to much on this day as they would get two late 4th quarter touchdowns to secure the 20-10 win. The Plattsburgh North Stars will fall to 4-1 as they head into there bye week and the Ice Storm would improve to 4-1 into a tie for second place. Gallery

The annual Tractor pull would turn into another all day event as the first tractor would hook in the 8,000lb Farm Stock Tractor class at 1:30 and then the day would end with the pull off in the 4x4 Tractor Free for All at at 11:45.Gallery

The game would be tight at 5-1 going into the bottom of the seventh inning when the Padres would explode for 12 runs and then would go on to add another 8 runs in the last two innings for the convincing victory.Gallery

There was a total of 11 class with around 50 hooks on day in front of standing room only crowd at the fire department. Plattsburgh North Stars Kevin Gibson (53) takes down the Broome County Dragon running back with the shoulder high tackle. The North Stars would get the 17-0 win over the Broome County Dragons. The game would remain scoreless until 4 minutes into the second quarter when Elisa Parks ran it in. Then just four minutes later the North Stars would add another rushing touchdown on Michael Jenkins 14 yard scamper. Then in the third quarter Mitch Ryder would end the scoring on a 28 yard field goal. With the win the North Stars improve 3-0, 2-0 in the EFL as they will host the newest member to the Empire Football League New York Stallions on July 24th at Plattsburgh High. Gallery

July 11th 2010

Meron's Expos Andrew Gooch (46) leaps and robs Mark Eggleston (1) of a home run. Meron's Expos would score three runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to beat the Airborne Speedway/Hockey Plus Padres 3-1 in game 1. The Padres scored back in the third inning just couldn't get the one run to stand up. Game 2 of the doubleheader would go to the Expos as well cause the Padres had injuried player and were noy able to play the game. With the sweep the Expos would keep there spot atop standings at 15-3. With the defeats the Padres six game winning streak came to end and fell to 10-8 headed into the last week of the season against the Lyon Mountain Miners. Gallery

July 10th 2010

Break up pass for interception

Plattsburgh North Stars Donny Coolidge (11) & Shane Racette (38) break up the pass and Shane Racette ends up with the interception. The Plattsburgh would off there season in Massena against the Sliver & Black with a griddy 27-21 win. The North Stars would get on the board first on a Touchdown pass to Chris Fish for the 7-0 lead. Then on the next Massena Donny Coolidge would intercept the pass for a pick 6 and take a 13-0 lead after the first. In the second quarter JD Moore would complete his second touchdown pass of the night this time to Trevor St. Clair. The Sliver & Black would get on the board as the half ended on a deep touchdown pass to give the North Stars a 21-7 lead at the break. In the 3rd quarter Mervin Jenkins would score on a rushing touchdown. Then in the 4th quarter the North Stars would have to hold on for the victory as turnovers would lead to, two Sliver & Black touchdowns. With the win the North Stars are 1-0 as they head home to host the Broome County Dragons on July 17th. Gallery

Slides In Safe At Third Base

The Fourth Ward Timberjaxxs base runner slides in safe at third base under the tag by Airborne Speedway/Hockey Plus Padres Donny Coolidge (23). It wouldn't be enough on this day though as the Airborne Speedway/Hockey Plus Padres continued there winning ways gathering another sweep and now have won six in a row. In game it would be tight till the 4th when it was 2-2 and scored 4 in the inning and then added another couple late for the 9-2 win. In game two the Padres would have a slim 4-3 till the sixth inning when they scored nine runs and got the 13-3 win in 6 innings. With the win the Padres are now 10-6 on the season as the will be taking on the Meron's Expos who are 13-3 at Saranac High School in Saranac on July 11th, While the Fourth Ward Timberjaxxs fall to 1-15 and will be hosting the Plattsburgh Cardinals 11-5 at South Acres in Plattsburgh on July 11th. As they would beat the Fourth Ward Athletics 10-0, 11-1 both games would be called after five innings. With the sweep the Padres improve to 8-6 as the will be taking on the Fourth Ward Timberjaxxs next weekend in Plattsburgh at South Acres Field. While the Fourth Ward fall to 1-13 and will look to right the ship next weekend as they will host the Plattsburgh Cardinals at Lefty Wilson Field in Plattsburgh. Gallery

In game two of the double header the Padres get 1 in the first Cardinals would come back in the second to tie it at one. Then through out the next few innings the Padres would add to there lead to complete the sweep of the Cardinals with a 6-2 win. With the sweep the Padres move back 500 at 6-6 as they host the Fourth Ward Timberjaxxs. As the Plattsburgh Cardinals fall to 8-4 as they host the Lyon Mountain Miners in an very important double header at the top of standings. Gallery

It wouldn't be enough on this though as the Padres would get swept in the twin bill 8-3 in game 1 and 18-13 in game 2. The opener would be tight through the first five innings until the Expos exploded for 5 runs. In game two the slugfest was on as it the Padres would actually lead 11-10 after 2 innings the Expos would rally for the win though. The Padres fall to 4-6 headed into next weekend's twin bill at home against the Plattsburgh Cardinals. While the Expos improve to 7-3 headed into two games with the Fourth Ward A's. Gallery

The in the second half the offense would come alive and the defense would clamp down and have 19 unanswered points. The North Stars will be back in action next weekend with there last tune before the Empire League season starts at home against the Vermont Ravens.Gallery

The first game of the twin bill would be scoreless through the first five innings till the Padres scratch one across in the bottom of the fifth. The Timberjaxxs would answer back in the top of sixth to tie it at 1. Then in the bottom of inning the Padres get two run to get the 3-1 victory. In the second game of the Padres would answer early an often as there bats came alive and would cruise to the 11-3 victory to earn the sweep and improve there record to 4-4 headed into there game next week against Lyon Mountain Miners will the Timberjaxxs fall to 1-7 as they will face off with the Athletics. In the second game the Cardinals would get three in the fifth inning to get the 3-0 win and sweep the Padres. In a couple of great games the Cardinals would split the doubleheader with the Golden Eagles. They would come up just a little short in game as they fell 2-1. In the second game it would come to the 7th inning still tied as Erin Jamieson would hit a walk off single to score the runner from third to get the 4-3 win for the Cardinals. Gallery

The Cardinals would split the double header against the Blue Devils losing game 8-7 and coming back to win the night cap 6-5. The Cardinals would score five in the 9th inning of game 1 to come up just short, Then in the second game they would jump out to and early 3-0 lead and then have to hold on late to get the 6-5 victory. With the split the Cardinals go to 22-6 on the season and 3-3 in the SUNYAC. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Mat Bessing (11) with the shoot in close on the Norwich goaltender and crashes the net for the rebound. Plattsburgh State would fall short in there effort to get back to the National Championship 3-2. Norwich would get on the board first just over five minutes into the first period. The score would remain 1-0 until the thirteen minute mark of the second period when the Cardinals Andrew Willock tied the game at 1. Norwich would take the 2-1 lead into the final period when they scored in the final minute of the second period. Norwich would extend there lead to 3-1 eight minutes into the third. Mike Kavanagh would score for the Cardinals to make it 3-2 with six minutes setting up an exciting finish. Although the Cardinals would fall short 3-2 and there season would come to end for the Cardinals in the Final Four with a record of 19-6-4. Gallery

Plattsburgh State would fall to Norwich 3-2 when Norwich was able to get two goals in the final 90 seconds. With the Cardinals season comes to end and finish with a 23-3-2 record. Gallery

Although the Cardinals would not be able to hold on as Elimra would come back and the Cardinals come up short 4-2 as Elimra would win the ECAC West title. The Cardinal did however earn a berth in the NCAA Touranment and will host Norwich on March 13th. Gallery

The #1 seeded Cardinals would get the impressive 5-2 victory over the Pioneers to advance to conference finals against conference rival Elmira. The teams traded goals until midway though the 2nd period when the Cardinals would score to make it 3-2 and would not look back from there and go on for the victory. Gallery

Plattsburgh State's Steve Thomas (23) splits the SUNY IT defenders in the lane and lays in the floater for the basket. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would end up on the short end of a 71-65 and would bow out in the 1st round of the NCAA Tournament. The SUNY IT Wildcats would jump on the Cardinals early in the half and just couldn't get the lead. The Cardinals season came to end in the 1st round of the NCAA Tournament and finish with a 21-8 record on the season. Gallery

They would end up needing some clutch free throws coming down the stretch to secure the 75-74 victory with the win the Cardinal win the regular season crown for the second time in three seasons and get the #1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. The Cardinals started off by getting three unanswered goals until the Tigers got on the board with 6 seconds left in the second period. In the first of a two game series featuring teams ranked in the top five in the nation. The #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #4 RIT Tigers. The game would be scoreless until Stephanie Moberg would light the lamp for her 10 th goal of the season 13 seconds into the second period. Each team would score one more goal in the period giving the Cardinals a 2-1 heading into the third. In the third period the Cardinals would score two more goals to take a 4-1 lead until two minutes left in the game when the Tigers would score two goals in the last two minutes to make the cardinals fight to hang onto the lead. Rock Maple Racing Northeast Snocross Challenge
Malone, NY January 10th 2010

Bobby Lepage (#244) and Polaris teammate Danny Porier (#312) racing ski to ski through turn three as they battle for the second position

It was the finals of the Rock Maple Racing Northeast Snocross Challenge at Franklin County Fairgrounds in Malone, NY. Many of the finals were very tightly contested as riders were going for the bragging rights that I won the last race in Malone. As an added bonus in the Pro Open division it was the 1st leg of the Woody's Triple Crown and Bailey Motor Company put up an extra $1,000 to winner of the race. The winner would be Bobby Lepage on the #244 Polaris that would pass Mathieu Morin with just two laps remaining in the 20 lap main event when he got held up the slower sleds. The Rock Maple Racing Snocross circuit made there 6th and what looks like final trip to Malone for the annual snocross race. It was side by side racing from the first race of the day at just nine in the morning till the last race of the day at around five o'clock. As the races were qualifying for the finals to take place on Sunday afternoon at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Malone, NY. The #2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Trinity Bantams in the finals of the 14th annual Cardinal Classic at the Ronald B. Stafford Arena. The Cardinal would control the game from the drop of puck and would have a 2-0 lead after the first period before they exploded for five goals in the second period and then added a couple more in the third period for the convincing 9-0 win. Plattsburgh State's Patrick Jobb (9) put the quick wrister right on net from right in front of the net on Trinity goaltender Wesley Vesprini (30) as the Cardinals would outshoot the Bantams 70-23. The #2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals opened up the Cardinal Classic with a very impressive 8-1 victory over the Castleton State Spartans. The Cardinals would take the quick 1-0 lead just 54 seconds into the game and would not look back. They would take a 4-0 lead into the final period before doubling there score in the final period for the 8-1 victory. Plattsburgh State's Ian Delong (10) would slide it under Castleton State's goaltender Justin Roethlingshoefer (35) for his fifth goal on the season and would also help with two assist. Gallery
