Plattsburgh State Cardinals would suffer their first lost of the season againsts the Oswego Lakers

The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals gave an all out effort against arch rival and #8 Oswego Lakers but would suffer their first lost of the season on a 5-2 defeat. With the lose the Cardinals falls to 3-1 after the first two weeks of the season. The Cardinals will now head on the road for the first time this season as they will take on Morrisonville this coming saturday night. Gallery

The #1 Plattsburgh State Cardinals started off their weekend home series against the Cortland Red Dragons in a game that they would dominate from start to finish for the 5-1 victory. The Cardinals would take the early 1-0 lead in the 1st period and never look back from that point. With the win the Cardinals improved to 3-0 on the early season. The Plattsburgh State Men's Hockey team ranked #1 in the country started of the 2009-2010 season at home against SUNYAC oppenet Geneseo. In a game that would see the Cardinals trail 1-0 after the first three minutes of the game. The Cardinals would tie it back at 1 late in the openning period. Then in the second period the teams would trade goals going into the final period tied at 2. Then in that final period the Cardinals would score twice in 16 seconds to get the 4-2 win in front of the home crowd. The Plattsburgh North Stars would travel to Watertown to take on the Red & Black in there first ever Empire Football League Championship game. In a game that would be one of the best for the league championship the North Stars dream season came to end with a 6-0 lose to the Red & Black. The game was a great defensive battle neither them willing to give a inch unfortunately for the North Stars they blinked once with 6 minutes left in the opening half giving Watertown the only score of the game. Plattsburgh North Stars traveled north of the broader to tangle Quebec Titans

The Plattsburgh North Stars traveled north of the broader to tangle Quebec Titans in the semi finals of the Empire Football Playoffs. In a game that would see the North Stars never trail it was a very physical contest with both teams playing stellar defense. The game was so good that players decided to play an extra quarter. The North Stars would prevail in the extra stanza with a 22-19 and the celebration was on. With the win North Stars will travel to Watertown to take on the Red & Black for the league championship on October 10th at Alex Duffy Fairgrounds with a 7:30 kickoff. The North Stars will be avenge a regular season defeat by the Red & Black. There will be history made that night either way as the North Stars go for there 1st ever league title and the Red & Black are looking for there 1st title in 30 years. Gallery

Getting a great bite off the line with the good track conditions at 3rd annual sled drags

The local area snow sled clubs from Ellenburg, Plattsburgh, Peru and Saranac held there 3rd annual sled drags for the second straight year at the Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY. There was about 50 competitors in the 10 different classes that competed to benefit the different clubs. Everyone was very pleased with the turn out and are looking forward to next years races. As can be seen from the picture were getting a great bite off the line with the good track conditions. Gallery

vs Massena Sliver & Black September 26th 2009

Brandon Keleher #40 would become the second North Star in history to run for over a 1,000 yards in a season

The Plattsburgh North Stars entered the playoffs as the #3 seed and would host the #6 Massena Sliver & Black in the opening round of the playoffs. In a game that was never in doubt the North Stars would advance with a 42-6 win and travel to Chateaugay on October 3rd to take on the #2 seed and Empire Football League champions Quebec Titans for the right to go to the championship. There were a few records that were set during the game as Brandon Keleher #40 (pictured) would become the second North Star in history to run for over a 1,000 yards in a season. Along with Kenny Stay setting a team record with six touchdown passes and Matt St. Clair with 4 touchdown reception. Gallery

The Plattsburgh North Stars got back to winning ways with a 13-0 win over rival the Vermont Ice Storm. With the win the North Stars improve to 7-2 in the Empire Football and 9-2 on the season. The North Stars now control their own faith heading into the last week of the regular season at the Quebec Titans in hopes of getting the no.2 seed in the playoffs and the all important 1st round bye. A couple of North Stars taking down the Red and Black running back as he looked to turn the corner

The undefeated #16 Plattsburgh North Stars traveled over to Watertown to to take on the Watertown Red and Black in a game that could be a preview of EFL championship in mid October. The Red and Black came in looking to avenge there lose last week to Quebec. In a game that was in high in intensity and hard hitting. It would be the Red and Black that would come away with the 21-0 win and now tied at the top EFL standings with the North Stars at 6-1. vs Meron's/Renzi Expos August 16th 2009

Andrew Goch sliding safe at third for the Expos with the stolen base

The Meron's/Renzi Expos finished of Hockey Plus/Loreman's Padres with a 11-0 win in game 2 of the best of 3 series. With the win the Expos advance to the championship starting next weekend August 23rd at Lyon Mountain against the defending champion Miners. With the lose the Padres season will come to end and will finish the year at 14-9 and will be looking to go after the championship next summer as most of the players will be returning. The Adirondack Truck and Tractor Pullers Assocation made there final stop on the 2009 campagain with the Tractor pull edition at the Essex County Fair in Westport, NY. There would be over 50 competors from all northern new york and vermont. With the season titles all but looked up before the event. The pullers were for bragging rights to say I won the last hook of the season and all the great fans at the fair. The Adirondack Truck and Tractor Pullers Assocation returned to Westport, NY for the Essex County Fair Truck Pull. Their would be five street legal classes along with two 4x4 truck classes. Their would be a decent croed all night long with many people coming and going through out the show. The annual truck and tractor pull returned to the Franklin County Fair in Malone, NY for there all day show. There would be 23 different classes that would be ran until late night. There were a few drivers that pushed there equipment just to far for the big crowd and have some breakage. The annual demolition derby returned to the Franklin County Fair in Malone, NY in front of another packed grandstands. Their would be 90 cars that would take part in the second night of derby action. The Hockey Plus/Loreman Padres took on the Meron/Renzi Expos in game 1 of the CVBL Semis in a game that the Expos would be in total control from the start. The Expos would cruise to a 18-2 win and take a 1-0 lead in the best of three series. Game two and three will be played August 16th starting at noon at a site still to be determined. The Adirondack Truck and Tractor Pullers returned to the Huntingdon Fair in Huntingdon, Que for the first time in over seven years. The crowd came out in full force to see the tractors and trucks take to the great hooking track. Their was plenty of local competitors to give the some extra cheering power. Joe Perreault (Mooers, NY) and his Mad Dog get a little to hot and had a quick oil fire when it ran down on the hot headers

The Adirondack Truck and Tractor Pullers Association return to Highgate, Vermont for their annual two day show at the Franklin County Field Days. On friday night it would be the truck with the 4x4 truck class and crowd favor street legal truck with an average of 20 in a class. Then on saturday it would be all day show with the tractors ranging from the farm stock all the way up to the pro stock class plus the Highgate tradition 4x4 tractor classes. Padres would beat the Athletics 7-6 on a walk off base hit by Matt Rivers (#88)

The celebration is on at home plate as the Padres would beat the Athletics 7-6 on a walk off base hit by Matt Rivers (#88). In a game that the Padres never lead until the walk off base hit in the 9th inning. The Athletics would roll out to an early 5-0 lead after the 5th inning. Before the Padres would come roaring back to win the game by that 7-6 score. With the win the Padres advance to the semi finals against the Expos in a best of three series that will see the Padres host game 1 on August 2nd at the Saranac High School and then Expos will host games 2 and 3 at Chip Cummings Field in Plattsburgh. The Padres and Expos finished the regular season tied for 2nd place and split the 4 games during the regular season. Gallery

After a hard rain came through the fairgrounds just before the truck and tractor pull was about to start the show would be put on a 3 hour hold. Once the track was clear and ready to run though it was a horsepower and because of that their was a lot of break of on the night. Pictured is Justin Miller (Fort Covington, NY and Too Loose Nuts take it out the back door to win the 4x4 trucks class A and stay perfect on the early season. In the B class though he would fall just about 2 feet short to the Mad Dog and settle for 2nd place. Gallery

The Street Legal Truck Pull made its annually return to the Clinton County in Plattsburgh in front of a bunch of fair goers. The numbers keep increasing every year and this year would be no different as their would be a total of 67 hooks between the six different classes that were offered. Hopkinton Field Day's 2008 Champion Too Loose Nuts, takes the early season lead

The Adirondack Truck and Tractor Pullers Association got their 2009 season off in Hopkinton, NY. They would have 4x4 trucks, pro stock tractors, altered stock tractors, and farm stock in attendance. In the 4x4 truck class it would start off just as 2008 ended with Too Loose Nuts your 2008 champion winning the first event of the season and take the early season lead. The next stop for the ATPA will be the Clinton County Fair July 22nd for a street legal truck pull and then on July 25th for a full show of trucks and tractors. Gallery

The Plattsburgh North Stars would head across the lake this week to take on long time rival the Vermont Ice Storm at the Burlington High School. It would defensive game on both sides as it was tied at zero going into the 4th quarter. Then the North Star offense would respond as they would cruise to a 21-0 win over the Ice Storm and stay perfect on the season. Cardinals (#20) sliding under the tag of Padres Pat Hoey (#10) for the stolen base

The Fourth Ward Cardinals and the Hockey Plus/Loreman's Padres locked up for a big regular season double header as they came in #1 and #2 in the standings with the Cardinals up by a 1.5 games. Their would not be much settled on this day as Padres would split the double header and stay a 1.5 apart headed into the final week of the season. The Padres would come from behind in game 1 to win it in the 7th inning 5-4. However the Cardinals came back to calm the game 2 with a convincing 6-0 win. The Padres will finish of the regular season on July 19th with a double header in Lyon Mountain against the Miners. The Plattsburgh North Stars would start off their Empire League season with a well fought victory over the Broome County Dragons 21-13 in a game that they never trailed in. The North Stars would use a stellar performance by the defense for the victory along with good attack on the ground from Brandon Keleher has he would rush for over a 100 yards on the day. The North Stars will be traveling to Vermont on July 18th to take on defending league champion the Vermont Ice Storm at 1:00pm at South Burlington High School. Hockey Plus/Loreman's Shane Perrotte (#2) slides in safe at second under the tag of Fourth Ward Athletic Riley Lawless (#1). The Padres continue their winning ways as they gain the weekend sweep against the Athletics and have now won 7 out of their last 8 games. They would use speed and the long ball for the wins as they won game #1 10-6 and take game 2 11-5. With the win the Padres move into sole position of second place and are two games behind the Cardinals. The Padres will meet next weekend (July 12th) at Bailey Avenue Park in double header that will decide the regular season champion. Gallery

The Padres would go on to win the second game 10-5 after giving up five runs in the 1st inning they would shut down the Expos the rest of the game. The Expos would win the 1st game 7-0 to gain the split. With that the Expos and Padres remained tied for second at 9-5 with 4 games remaining in the regular season. Gallery

The North star's will be back in action on June 27th against the Vermont Ravens at the Plattsburgh High Athletic Complex kickoff is 7:30. The Meron/Renzi Expos and the Hockey Plus/Loreman's Padres split there weekend series at Chip Cummings Field in Plattsburgh, NY. The Padres would take game 1 11-9 with a 3 run 7th inning. The Expos would come back to get the night cap 5-3 when they put together a 4 run bottom of the 6th. With the split the Expos go to 4-2 and the Padres go to 2-4 after three weeks of the season.
