Plattsburgh Hornets Vs Saranac Chiefs

Saranac's Luke Garmin (88) reaches back and catches the ball that he tipped to himself for the first down. It would be the final day of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season and would feature the Plattsburgh Hornets and Saranac Chiefs. The Saranac Chiefs would take the 7-0 lead at the 7:15 mark of the first quarter on the 8 yard pass to Jacob Nolan. The Chiefs would extend there lead to 14-0 midway through the second quarter on the James Conway 1 yard run. The game would remain there until four minutes left in the third quarter when the Chiefs would extend it to 21-0 on the running touchdown. The Chiefs would get one more as the fourth quarter starter on the Luke Garmin 9 yard pass to secure the 28-0 victory. In the winning effort the Saranac Chiefs finish the regular season at 6-1 while the Plattsburgh Hornets finish at 4-3 on the season. Gallery

Ausable Valley Patriots Vs Ticonderoga Sentinels

Ausable Valley's Luis Perez (3) with the interception in the end zone in front of Ticonderoga's Michael Dushane (23). It would be the final week of the regular season and it would feature the Ausable Valley Patriots and Ticonderoga Sentinels. The Sentinels would take the 7-0 lead with two minutes left in the first quarter on the quarterback sneak. The Patriots would take the 8-7 lead with 4:30 left in the first half on the Jordan Fletcher five yard run. The Patriots would take the lead in the final minute of the first half when Michael Douglas caught the 16 yard pass and make it 14-7 at the half. Ticonderoga would get with one on the 8 yard run by Bryce Gautreau and make it 14-13 game. Ausable would come right back on the next play and connect on a 90 yard pass play to Luis Perez and make it a 20-13 game. Although with four minutes left in the quarter Bryce Gautreau would score again on a 14 yard play to make it 20-19. With just under four minutes left in the game the Sentinels would take there first lead of the game at 25-20 on the Michael Dushane five yard touchdown pass. Although the Patriots would march right down the field and Luis Perez would score on a five yard touchdown pass in the final minute and secure the 26-25 victory for there first victory of the season. In the winning effort the Ausable Valley Patriots would go to 1-6 while the Ticonderoga Sentinels fall to 1-6 on the season. Gallery

Larry Wight (99L) and Jimmy Phelps (98H) battle for the lead during the Billy Whitaker 200 in the big block modified race at Super Dirt Week. It would be the final day of Super Dirt Week XLVII and the features would be the main course of the day. In the first race of the day it would be the Chevy Performance 75 for the Sportsman Modified and the eventual winner would be Shane Pecore after a last lap pass on Robert Bublack to get the win and cash in on the 4,000 dollar paycheck. Next up on the day would be the Dirtcar Pro Stock 50. This race would also come down to a last lap pass but even better as C.D. Beauchamp would pass Chuck Dumblewski coming off turn four and cash in on the 2,000 dollar paycheck. That would only leave one race left on the day and that would be the Bill Whitaker Car and Truxs 200. It would be a great race up front all day between Jimmy Phelps and Larry Wight battling for the lead all day long. The eventual winner would be Larry Wight as Jimmy Phelps had to make late race pitstop for a tire issue. Although that would not end the race as Stewart Friesen would battle to the end to try and deny the win for Larry Wight. With the win Larry Wight would win first Super Dirt Week and cash in the 50,000. Gallery

Saranac Chiefs Vs Peru Indians

Saranac's Jacob Nolan (13) with the catch along the sidelines and in suing hit by Peru's Alex Palmer (20). It would be week 6 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and would feature the Saranac Chiefs and Peru Indians battling for second place in the conference. The game would start with the Indians taking the 7-0 lead on the Robert Reynolds 2 yard pass at 3:43 of the first quarter. The Chiefs would answer back with 3:30 left in the first quarter on the Andy LeBeau 5 yard pass. The Indians would take the lead in the second quarter on the 15 yard pass to Austin Carpenter to make it 14-7 and that is where the score remained til halftime. The Chiefs would answer back in the third quarter on a 49 yard pass to Jacob Nolan to tie the game up at 14. In the coming couple minutes of the fourth quarter the Chiefs would take the 21-14 lead on the Isaac Graham 15 yard pass. Although the Indians would answer back at 3:46 on the Alex Palmer 6 yard run to tie the game at 21. Then with 37 seconds left in the game the Chiefs would hit a 29 yard feild goal for the 24-21 lead. Then with seven seconds left in the game the Chiefs would seal the game away on a Jacob Nolan pick 6 for the 31-21 victory. Michael Ayer (69) tbones the green car as it spins sideways entering the corner and almost gets put on the lid. It would be the season finale at Airborne Park Speedway and as in years past they would end with the enduro. This year there would be 98 cars that would take part in the event. It would be on a very dry track that would see alot of dust making people vision difficult out there. Richie Turner the winner on the day or so it seemed took the lead around lap 100 and would cross the line as the winner. Although the victory would be short lived cause a tire issue would cost him the win during tech. The winner of the event would eventual be Trevor Jaques. Gallery

Plattsburgh Hornets Vs Beekmantown Eagles

Beekmantown's Willam Colvard (28) takes it around the edge for the score. It would be Week 5 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and it would be a battle for first place as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host crosstown foe the Beekmantown Eagles. The game would take a bit to get going as the Hornets would take the 6-0 lead at the 6:26 mark of the second quarter when Cameron Colburn would score of a 31 yard strike. The Eagles would march back down the field and tie the game up on a Christain Moura 13 yard run at 8:59 of the second quarter. Although in the closing seconds of the half the Hornets would take the 12-6 lead into the break on the 4 yard pass to Zack Bieber. It would take most of the third quarter although the Eagles would take the 14-12 lead on a Christain Moura 13 yard run at 8:33. The just two minutes later they would extend there lead on the Brandon Belrose keeper for the 20-12 lead. In the early moments of the fourt it would go to 22-12 on the Beekmentown safety. Then the eagles would extend the lead to 28-12 on the touchdown pass. Although the Hornets would answer right back 25 seconds later on the touchdown pass to Zack Bieber to make it 28-18. Then in the final three minutes of the game the Eagles would put it away on a 4 yard run by William Colvard to secure the 34-18 victory. Stephen Porier (28FM) and Chuck Hebbing (45) battle for the lead during the feature event. It would be the last race day of the season and the first ever American/Canadian Sprint Car Clash presented by Peru Farm Supply. There would be some great racing on the day with Airborne's weekly divisions Super Stock, Mini-Modifieds, and Strictly championships decided along with a non-points Sportsman Modified. In the main event of the day Stephen Porier would beat out Chuck Hebbing in a late race battle for the $4,000 pay out. In Sportsman Modified action Adam Pierson would get his first win a Sportsman Modified. As for the championship races in Strictly Stock division Shawn Walker would nose out Caleb Tourville for the feature win and win his second straight Strictly Stock title. In the Mini-Modifieds Josh Laporte would get the win and clinch the Points championship. As for the Super Stock division Brent Jarvis would get the overall win a three 15 lap segment race and clinch his second straight Super Stock championship. Gallery

Beekmentown Eagles Vs Peru Imdians

Beekmentown's Connor McGinnis (32) with the crunch hit and tackle on Peru's Alex Palmer (20) to stop the first down. It would be week 4 of the champlain valley athetic conference season and we feature probbably the biggest game of the season the Beekmantown Eagles and Peru Indians. It wouldn't take long for the Eagles to take the 6-0 lead on a 65 yard touchdown recepition by Jalen Belrose 1:15 into the game. Peru would come right back and take a 7-6 lead two minutes later on the 17 yard pass to Austin Carpenter. The Indians would extend there lead to 14-6 on Austin Carpenters second touchdown of the quarter with 1:13 left in the quarter. The Eagles would would get the game to 14-12 at 3:38 of the second quarter on the Jalen Belrose 33 yard recepition. The Eagles would regain the lead at the 8:41 on Jalen Belrosr third touchdown of the first half and make it 18-14. The game would stay there til 8 seconds into the 4th quarter when the Eagles extend there lead to 25-14 on Willam Colvard 30 yard reception. The Eagles would score again at 9:15 on Jalen Belrose 13 yard run for his fourth score of the game to make it 32-14. Although the Indians would keep fighting and make it 34-21 on a 5 yard pass to Robert Reynolds. With the 32-21 win the Beekmantown Eagles go to 4-0 while the Peru Indians fall to 2-2 on the season. It would be week four of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and would feature Au Sable Valley Patriots and the Saranac Chiefs. The game would take time to get going but eventually the Chiefs would take the 7-0 lead on Connor Recore's 2 yard pass at 10:52 of the second quarter. The game would stay there til the second half when Au Sable's Evan Snow gets the 2 yard TD run to make it 7-6. Although the Chiefs would answer right back on the next drive on a 50 yard touchdown pass to Jacob Nolan to make it 13-6 at 6:14 of the third quarter. . Then at the 10:05 mark of the quarter the Chiefs would extend the lead to 21-6 on the 65 yard pass to Connor Recore, Then in the closing seconds of the third the Chiefs would put the game away on Jacob Nolan's 15 yard td pass to secure the 27-6 victory. It would be week 3 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference between cross town rivals as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Peru Indians. It would be a hard hitting game from the start and it would take til the second quarter for the first score of the game. In that first score the Peru Indians would take the 7-0 lead on the Kasen Brennan 6 yard score at the 6:25. Although the Hornets would answer back on a 30 yard pass to Tyler Phillips to tie the game at seven. Then in the closing seconds of the half the Hornets would add a 30 yard field goal from Liam Rascoe for the 10-7 lead at intermission. At the 8:42 mark of the third quarter the Hornets would extend there lead to 17-7 on the Tyler Phillips score. Although the Indians would keep fighting and get a late score from Alex Palmer. Although it would not be enough as the Hornets get the 17-13 victory. With the win the Hornets go to 3-0 as they head to Moriah next week. It would be week 2 of the Champlain Valley Atheletic Conference season and it would feature the Ausable Valley Patriots and the Plattsburgh Hornets. The Horners would get the opening score of the game on a run by Lestyn Williams for the 7-0 lead at 3:52 of the first quarter. The game would be a very defensive game and the game would stay there all the way through the first half. When the teams would come back for the third quarter the Patriots would finally get on the board on a 63 yard pass to Louie Perez although they would miss the extra point and the Hornets would keep a 7-6 advantage. The game would stay there til the final three minutes of the game when the Hornets would expand there lead to 14-6 on a four yard run by Lestyn Williams and secure the victory. In the winning effort the Hornets go to 2-0 while the Patriots fall to 0-2 on the season. Peru Indians Vs Ticonderoga Sentinels

Peru's Austin Carpenter (5) crunches with the Ticonderoga defender along the sidelines fighting for the extra yardage. It would be the opening week of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season and the last game of the week would feature the Peru Indians and the Ticonderoga Sentinels. The Indians wouldn't take long to jump out to the lead as they would strike with a 71 yard pass to Austin Carpenter 2:06 into the game for the 7-0 lead. On the next defense drive they would block the punt for the safety and have a 9-0 lead. Then at the 7:41 mark of the first quarter they would add a 2 yard run from Brayden Miner for the 15-0 lead. Right off in the second quarter they would score on a 18 yard pass to Austin Carpenter for the 22-0 lead. Then at 4:45 mark of the quarter they would score on a Kasen Brennan 17 yard touchdown pass for the 28-0 lead at the break. In the second the Indians wouldn't let up as they would score three more times for the 48-0 victory. It would be a good night of racing at the Big A with many battles on track and tempers flaring up a couple times. Although when the dust settled in the 358 Modifieds Steve Bernier would win the race and be crowned the 2018 Track Champion. While in the rest of the racing Jeremy Roy would win the Sportsman Modified race and Nick Heywood would be crowned track champion. While in the Super Stock they would have double feature and Tylor Terry and Michael Wright would get the win. In the Mini-Modifieds Shawn Moquin and Shawn Walker wins the Strictly Stock. Gallery

Plattsburgh's Jayvon Carpenter (23) with the juke at the line to hit the hole and get the gain for the first down. It would be the opening night of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference football season and we would see the Platsburgh Hornets host the Saranac Lake Red Storm. The Hornets would tske the 6-0 lead on the 32 yard run by Lestyn Williams. Lestyn Williams would strike again on a 15 yard run at 8:02 of the first quarter to extend there lead to 13-0. In the first few seconds of the second quarter the Horners would strike again with a 22 yard pass to Zack Bieber to make it 20-0 and thats where the game would be at halftime. When the teams came back for the second half the Horners wouldn't take long to extend the lead as Liam Rascoe would run back the opening kick 88 yards for the 26-0 lead. In the fourth quarter in the last two minutes of the game the Hornets would strike on more time with a 65 yard run by Andrew Swiesz to secure the 32-0 victory. It would be the KSR Motorsports annual stop to the Champlain Valley Fair in Essex Junction, Vermont for there Night of Fire and Destruction tour. The would bring six monster trucks Annihilator, Storm Damage, Hurricane Force, Toxic, Bad News Travels Fast along with one mini monster Zombie Sniper. They would also have the Quad Wars with Team Vermont Vs Team New Jersey and stunts with Crash Monreau and Tony Pederson. As for the Monster Trucks they would have a freestyle show only and the unofficial winner would be Bigfoot. As for the quad wars the winner would be Team Vermont 2-1. In the stunts portion of the show they would Tony Pederson and his two wheel stunts and Crash Monreau doing the human blow torch. Gallery

As for the winners on night it would be Steve Bernier 358 Modified, Jamie LaFountain Sportsman Modified, Jim McKerrian Super Stock, Dave Demore Mini-Modifieds and Michael Daniels in the Strictly Stock. Danny Johnson (21G) slides it through the first turn on his way to victory in the Super Dirtcar Series event. It would be the return of the Super Dirtcar Series to the Airborne for the second edition of the Battle of Plattsburgh 100. It would great evening of racing as the Super Dirtcar Series, Sportsman Modified, Super Stock and Mini-Modified divisions in action. In the main event of the evening Matt Shepherd would lead the first 98 laps. On a restart with two laps to go Danny Johnson would get around Matt Shepherd for the victory. Also getting wins on the night would be Jake Speshock in the Sportsman Modified, Tylor Terry in the Super Stock and Cam Gadue in the Mini-Modifieds. The racing will pick back up on August 4th with the third round of the Unquie Cigs Sportsman Modified Series. Gallery

It would be week four of the Empire Football League and it would feature the Plattsburgh North Stars and the Glens Falls Greenjackets. In the first quarter the North Stars would score twice from Elija Parks and Tre Bucci for the 14-0 lead. In the second quarter it would be more of the same as the North Stars would score three times twice from Elija Parks and once by Harry Rascoe. When the teams came back for the second half the North Stars would contuine the dominances as they would score twice to secure the 50-0 victory. In the winning effort the North Stars go to 2-2 on the season. There next game will be on the road to play Tri Cities on August 4th. Gallery

Dayton Roberts and his Chevy Sliverado pulls in the Work Stock class in honor of his fallen brother and the namesake of the event and wins both work tock classes on the night. It would be the first In the Nick of Time Truck Shootout at Airborne Park Speedway. It would be all truck all the time as they started with stock trucks and went all the way up to the Semis and 4x4 Pro Stock Trucks. It would be a great night as money would be raised for a great cause through the chinesse auction the 50/50 and the pull itself. The first first edition had around 75 hooks on the night. This should be an event that should be around for many years to come.Gallery

As for the racing on track the winners on the night would Jessey Mueller (two in row) 358 Modifieds, Devin Willis (1st career win) Sportsman Modified, Michael Wright (1st of the season) Super Stock, Dave Demore (1st career win) Mini-Modifieds, Shawn Walker 6th win of the season) Strictly Stocks. Jonathan Zakarauskas and the Hulk take it down on a power pass for a second place in the 6200lb 4x4 Pro Stock Trucks class. It would be the annual stop of the Adirondack Truck & Tractor Pullers at the Clinton County Fair in Plattsburgh, New York for the truck pull. There would be many different winners on the night throughout the 12 classes that were offered on the night. Three of the five hall of famers were celeberated during a ceremony at intermission Charlie Trombley (outside), Bob Bruno (middle) and Dick Newphew (inside) all cars are being driven by there relatices. It would be a historic night at the Airborne Park Speedway as it would be the first hall of fame class for the Airborne Park Speedway. In a ceremnony at intermission the first five members would be inducted Morris Broderick, Charlie Trombley, Bob Bruno, Dick Newphew and Jacky Peterson. As for the racing on track it would be a night that these induces these hall of famers would be proud to watch. Kyle Botala (007) and Caleb Tourville (42) would go right down to the wire with Kyle Botala (007) getting the win in the strictly stock feature by a mere 18 inches. It would be a specail Tuesday night at airborne park speedway as the Dirtcar Northeast Tour was in town along with the Super Stocks, Mini Modifieds, and Strictly Stocks. It would be a great night of racing with many closes battles throughout night and some coming right down to the end. It would be a very interesting evening of racing as the combination of the heat and full moon would would have drivers on edge. As there was multiple crashes on the night with a couple drivers ending up on there lid and some damaged race cars. When the carnage settled the winners on the night would be Chris Raabe 358 Modifieds, Jamie LaFountain Sportsman Modified, Super Stock Jim McKerrain, Mini-Modifieds Cam Guade, and Strictly Stock Caleb Tourville. As for the racing on track Coleman Gulick would get his first win of the season to pad his point lead in Empire Super Sprints point. In the Quebec Lightning Sprints it would be Jordan Porier. There would be around 40 cars for the afternoon of smashing and crunching. Justin Severance (4) would put the car on the side but it stay on all four wheels during a wild wreck in turn three and four other drivers involved in the crash were Zack Daniels (30), Thomas Cook (35), and Mike Palmer (85p). It would opening night of the season at Airborne Park Speedway Presented by Day Brothers Boats along with Law Enforcement Night. It noticed early in the night that the drivers were eager to get the season started and get that first race win of the season. As there would be many cautions throughout the night along with a couple red flags. There would be a total of 82 cars on the grounds split up over the five divisions with the most being in the Sportsman Modifed division with 37 cars on grounds. As the racing action it would start with Shawn Walker winning the Strictly Stock, then Brent Jarvis winning the Super Stock, then Bucko Branham in the Sportsman Modified, Chris Raabe 358 Modified and end with Zack Woods winning the Mini-Modified division. The #2 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host longtime rival #4 Middlebury Panthers in the NCAA Quarterfinals. The game would remain scoreless until the 14:34 mark of the second period when Erin McCardle would get the tip in goal for the 1-0 Cardinals lead. Although just over three minutes later the Panthers would tie the game up on the power play goal. The Cardinals would regain the lead at the 6:58 mark of the third period on the Ashley Songin scramble in front for the 2-1 lead. The Moriah Vikings celeberate as they are head back to the state final four to defend there state title. The #1 Moriah Vikings would square off with the #10 Whitehall Railroaders in the New York State Class D Quarterfinals. The game would be close to start out as the Moriah Vikings would have the slim 16-13 lead over the Railroaders after the first quarter. In the second quarter the game would still be tight although the Vikings would extend there lead with a 14-12 quarter and take a 30-25 lead at intermission. When the teams came back from the break they would be even through the third quarter at 18 and the Vikings would take the 48-43 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter is when the Vikings would pull away and put the game out of reach would a 26-18 quarter and secure the 74-61 victory. The Golden Bears would jump out to a quick 15-8 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter the Golden Bears would expand on the lead with 16-4 quarter and have a 31-12 lead at intermssion. When the teams came back for the second half the Indians would regroup but the Golden Bears would still be to much and win the quarter 14-10 and take a 45-22 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter the Golden Bears would let of the throttle and cruise as the Indians win the quarter 11-7 although the Golden Bears would win the game 54-33. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Fredonia State Blue Devils in SUNYAC action in the home finale of the season. The game would be tight throughout and remain scoreless until 11:33 of the second period when the Blue Devils score to take a 1-0 lead. The Cardinals would tie the game up with 4 minutes remaining left in the second period on Rich McCartney's goal. Then at the 3:40 mark of the third period the Cardinals would score twice in 20 seconds to make it 3-1 on Jesse Nehr and Rich McCartney goal. The Blue Devils would score at the 12 minute mark on a penalty shot to cut the lead in half at 3-2. Then in the closing minute of the game Aryton Valente would score the empty netter to secure the 4-2 victory. Plattsburgh State's Kayla Menneghein (9) taps in the goal into the open net. It would be a beat between NEWHL conference foes as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Cortland State Red Dragons. The Cardinals would take the lead five minutes into the game on the Annie Katonka goal. The Red Dragons would tie the game at 1 on the power play goal nine minutes into the first. The Cardinals although would regain the lead Kayla Menneghan goal with four minutes left in the first for the 2-1 lead after the first period. In the second period the Red Dragons would get the loan goal of the period to tie it at 2. The Cardinals would regain the lead again on the Courtney Moriarty goal 4 minutes into the third period at 3-2. Then at the 9:46 mark of the third period the Cardinals would extend there lead to 4-2 Kayla Meneghain second goal of the night. Then at 13:07 the Cardinals would put the icing of the cake on the Erin McCardle goal to secure the 5-2 victory.
