The Beekmantown Eagles are crowned the 2024 NYSPHSAA Girl's Hockey champions with a 9-0 win over the Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers at the Ronald B Stafford Ice. It would be the NYSPHSAA Section VII Championship in Girl's Hockey and it would feature the #1 Beekmantown Eagles at 18-1 against the #2 Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers at 3-16 from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena in front of a decent crowd. The Eagles would come soaring in the first period and would get three unanswered goals from Avery Parker, Sophia Amaya-Gutierrez, and Janna Ruest and take the 3-0 lead after the first period. When the teams returned for the second period the Eagles would keep their foot on the gas and would have a five-goal outburst in the second with goals from Meegan Burdo, Katie McCormick, Sophia Amaya-Guiterrez (the second of the night), Lilly Pratt, and Ele Fullman and they would take control with the 8-0 lead. In the third period with the game in hand, the teams would empty the benches and let the rest of the teams play and the Eagles would add one more in the period Ele Fullman would get her second of the night as the Beekmantown Eagles get the 9-0 win. In the winning effort, they will advance to the NYSPHSAA Regional Tournament and will play the Adirondack United on February 8th in the opening round as they look to get revenge on their only loss of the season. #3 Beekmantown Eagles @ #2 Malone Huskies Upstate New York Girls Hockey League Section VII Semi-Finals February 1st 2022

It would be the semi-finals of the Section VII Girl's Hockey inside the Upstate New York Girl's Hockey League. The game would be tight throughout the first period and the Eagles would eventually get the opening goal with under 90 seconds left in the period from Rachel Mador to make it 1-0 Eagles. The Huskies would fight back and tie the game at one on the Olivia Cook. Although just 50 seconds later the Eagles would score to regain their one-goal lead at 2-1. Then with just under five minutes left in the second period, the Huskies would tie the game again as Olivia Cook would score her second goal of the game. Although the Eagles would keep the fight up and take the lead back once again as they would score with two minutes left in the period to make it a 3-2 game. Although once again the Huskies would tie the game once again just 4:55 into the third period at three. The game would stay all the way til the fourth overtime when the Huskies would get the game-winner just shortly after a very conversational call boarding that jarred the puck free that they put in the net for the Huskies 4-3 win. With the win, the Huskies would advance to the Section VII Championship against Adirondack on February 9th. Gallery

It would take some time for the teams to feel each other out as the Hornets would get the lone goal of the opening period with under three minutes left as Amaya Abellard would light the lamp on the shorthand goal for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there til the 5:40 mark of the second period when the Hornets would stretch their lead to 2-0 from Susie Kennedy. Then just five minutes later the 10:04 mark the Hornets would up their lead to 3-0 on the Mckenzie Brown goal. Then in the third period, the Hornets would put the icing on the game with a pair of goals from Amaya Abellard (second of the game) and Ada Johnson as they secure the 5-0 win. In the winning effort, Amelle Lebrun would make ten saves for the shutout as the Plattsburgh Hornets move on to the Section VII Championship on February 3rd at the Herb Brooks Arena as they will face the Malone Huskies. Before the game begin we would take time to honor a pair of longtime supporters to the program Hector Duquette and Steve for their services working the penalty box they would be named after them. It would be playoff time in the Upstate New York Girl's Hockey League as the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #3 Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers in the Section VII semi-finals. It would take some time for the teams to feel each other out as the Hornets would get the lone goal of the opening period with under three minutes left as Amaya Abellard would light the lamp on the shorthand goal for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there til the 5:40 mark of the second period when the Hornets would stretch their lead to 2-0 from Susie Kennedy. In the second period, the Huskies would waste little time stretching the lead to 2-0 just 45 seconds in. Although the Hornets would answer back quickly at the 2:29 mark of the period from Ava Perry to make it 2-1 game. Although just thirty seconds later the Huskies would regain their two-goal lead at 3-1. Then at the 8:15 mark of the second period, the Hornets would answer back this time from Amanda Vaughn and make it a 3-2 game as they headed to the third period. In that third period the Hornets would tie the game up at three with under minutes left on Amanda Vaughns's second goal of the game and that is where the game would finish after five-minute over time we have a 3-3 tie game. Potsdam's Sophie Luazon (17) with the backhand goal on the rebound. It would be the third-place game of the North Country Shootout and it would feature the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers and the Potsdam Sandstoners. The Sandstoners would get the opening goal of the game from Madison Weaver at the 10:46 nark of the period to make it 1-0. The Sandstoners would extend the lead to 2-0 on the Anna Nelson goal. When the teams came back for the second period the Sandstoners would extend their lead to 3-0 at the 3:38 mark of the period on the Rylie Bicknell goal. Then with 40 seconds left in the period, they would make it 4-0 on Isabel Boyd's goal. In the third period, the Sandstoners would put the icing on the cake as they would get a fifth goal on the Sophie Lauzon goal at the 3:49 mark. Then at the 7:07 mark of the Lakers would score from Taylor Whitson to avoid the shutout and make it a 5-1 game. Then at 10:41, the Sandstoners would put the icing on the cake with a goal. Kenmore/Grand Island @ Plattsburgh Hornets North Country Shootout January 5th 2022

Kennmore/Grand Island's Carolyn Bourgeault (30) with the shoulder save as part of a 20 save night. The game would start off good for the Hornets as they would get the lone goal of the first period from Ada Johnson for the 1-0 lead. Although Kenmore/Grand Island would answer back with three goals of their own in the second period from Carissa Buyea, Isabella Jayme, and Megan Pinzel to make it a 3-1 game. Then just a minute into the third period Kenmore/Grand Island would make it 4-1 on the Emiliana Cassillo goal. Although the Hornets would show some life and make it a 4-2 game on the Amaya Abellard goal at the 9:18 marl. Although in the closing minute of the game the Kenmore/Grand Island squad would ice the game away with an empty netter on Megan Pinzel's second goal of the game to secure the 5-2 win and tournament title. In the winning effort, Kenmore/Grand Island's Carolyn Vourgeault would make 20 saves while Amella Lebrun makes 20 saves on the night. Gallery
