Plattsburgh State's Mae Olshansky (21) crashes the net as she goes after her second goal of the afternoon. It would be the home finale for the #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they would be facing NEWHL foe the Canton Kangaroos in Women's Hockey at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The game would be even through the first period until there was 3:36 left in the period when the Cardinals Mae Olshansky would score to get the Cardinals on the board and take the 1-0 lead. Then in the second period the Cardinals would score again to double there lead at 2-0 on Sara Krauseneck goal. Although the Kangaroos would keep fighting and they would make it a one goal game on the power play goal from Danika Lalonde. Although the one goal game would be short lived as the Cardinals would regain there two goal lead just two minutes later on the Nicole Unsworth goal and make it a 3-1 game. Then in the third period the Cardinals would take control of the game with 9:05 left in the third period on the Sara Krauseneck second goal of the game for the 4-1 lead. From there the Cardinals defense would control the rest of the game and the Cardinals would get the win. In the winning effort Ashley Davis and Chloe Beaubin would combine for 16 saves as they go to 20-2 on the season. It would be the home finale for the #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals as they would be facing NEWHL foe the Canton Kangaroos in Women's Hockey at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would have a single game on the weekend as they would host the Canton Kangaroos in Northeast Women's Hockey action. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would have their chances throughout the game as they would outshoot the Kangaroos 35-16 on the game. Although the Kangaroos goaltender Sirena Alvarez would stand tall and keep them in the game with 35 saves on the night. The lone goal of the game would come at the 5:24 mark of the second period from Ciara Wall for the Cardinals as the Cardinals would get the 1-0 win. In the winning effort, the Cardinals would go to 15-2 on the season Lilla Nease would make 16 saves on the afternoon for the shutout win. The #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would have a single game on the weekend as they would host the Canton Kangaroos in Northeast Women's Hockey action. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would have their chances throughout the game as they would outshoot the Kangaroos 35-16 on the game. Although the Kangaroos goaltender Sirena Alvarez would stand tall and keep them in the game with 35 saves on the night. The lone goal of the game would come at the 5:24 mark of the second period from Ciara Wall for the Cardinals as the Cardinals would get the 1-0 win. It would be the second game of the weekend series between the #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals and the Oswego State Lakers in Northeast Women's Hockey League action and the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would be looking at the weekend sweep. The Lakers would be looking to end the sweep chances early as they would score 3:40 into the game as Kensie Malone would light the lamp. Although the Cardinals would answer back five minutes later on the Julia Masotta goal to tie the game at one. The game would stay there till the 12:11 mark of the second period when Sara Krauseneck would stuff it in on the short side to give the Cardinals the 2-1 lead. Then at the 3:33 mark of the third period the Cardinals would make it a two-goal lead on the Nicole Unsworth goal at 3-1. Then with 4:16 left in the game, the Cardinals would ice the game away and get the 4-1 victory on the Mae Olshansky goal as the Cardinals would get the weekend sweep. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would make their home return for the first time since the Thanksgiving day weekend Buster's Panther/Cardinal Classic as they would face off with NEWHL foe the Oswego State Lakers. The Lakers would be out to spoil the Cardinal's homecoming as they would get the first goal of the game at the 6:02 mark of the first period on the shorthand from Kensie Malone. Then at the 11:47 mark of the period they would look to take control of the game as the Lakers would score on the powerplay from Amanda Zenstein for the 2-0 lead. Although the Cardinals would answer in the final 40 seconds of the period on the powerplay with the Mae Olshansky goal to make it 2-1 Lakers after the first period. In the second period, the Cardinals would get the only goal of the period at the 9:09 mark on the powerplay from Nicole Unsworth to tie the game at two. In the third period, the Cardinals would get the first lead of the game at the 13:22 mark of the period from Sierra Benjamin to make it 3-2. Then with 1:55 left in the game, the Cardinals would extend their lead to 4-2 on the Nicole Unsworth powerplay goal. It would be the opening game of the 2022 Buster's Sports Bar and Grill Cardinal/Panther Classic and it would feature the home #3 Plattsburgh State Cardinals taking on #6 Wisconsin River Falls Falcons at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena. The invading Falcons would get the opening goal of the game at the 7:33 mark of the first period on the Bailey Olson goal. The game would stay there all the way to the 5:44 mark of the second period when the Cardinals would get the equalizer off the stick Sara Krauseneck. Then with under four minutes left in the period the Cardinals would get the lead on the Riley Calhoun goal. Although the lead would be short lived as Maddie McCollins would come down on the break away and beat the Cardinal goalie with ten seconds left in the period and tie the game back up at two. Then at the Falcons will retake the lead at the 6:52 mark of the third period on the Aubrey Nelvin goal. From there the Falcons would hold onto the 3-2 lead for the win. In the winning effort the Falcons go to 7-1 on the season while the Cardinals suffer their first loss of the season and go to 7-1.
