It would be time for the playoffs in the first year of the SUNYAC Women's Hockey as the #1 seeded Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the #4 Morrisville State Mustangs in the semi-finals from the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena with 570 passionate fans in attendance. The home Cardinals would waste little time getting out to the lead as they would take the 1-0 lead 5:40 into the game on the Julia Masotta goal. Then the Cardinals would expand their lead to 2-0 at the 10:31 mark of the period on Julia Masotta's second goal of the game. The game would stay there till the 3:30 mark of the second period when Ciara Wall would score on the powerplay to make it 3-0. Then with a second left in the period the Cardinals Julia Masotta would complete her hat trick to give the Cardinals the 4-0 lead after the second period. The game would stay there till there was 3:59 left in the game when Hailee Easson would score for the Mustangs to break up the shutout and make it a 4-1 game. However, the Cardinals would answer right back 57 seconds later to make it a 5-1 game and win on Julia Masotta's fourth goal of the afternoon. In the winning effort, the Cardinals advance to the first SUNYAC Women's Hockey Championship next weekend at the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena against the Cortland State Red Dragons for the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The #5 Plattsburgh State Cardinals would welcome the Morrisville State Mustangs to the Ronald B Stafford Ice Arena for a SUNYAC Men's Hockey game as they would celebrate Burghys 43rd birthday with 1700 of his closest friends. The Mustangs would not be very good house guests as they would take the quick 1-0 lead just 4:15 into the game on the Robert Haak goal. The Cardinals wouldn't waste time in getting the equalizer as they would score at the 7:00 minute mark on the Adam Tretowicz goal and tie the game at one. Then the Cardinal offense would come alive as they would score four goals in just under four minutes to take the 5-0 lead scoring for the Cardinals would be Josh Belgrave, Adam Tretowicz (second of the night), Tio D'Addario, and Luk Jirousek. The Mustangs would answer back just 11 seconds into the second period on Trevor Neumann's goal to make it a 5-2 game. The game would stay there till the 11:49 mark of the second period when the Cardinals would regain their four-goal lead at 6-2 on the Paul Bryer goal. Then with just 18 seconds left in the period the Cardinals would score again on the Josh Belgrave goal his second of the night to make it a 7-2 game. The Cardinals would put the icing on the cake just 14 seconds into the third period when Bennett Stockdale would score and secure the 8-2 victory. In the winning effort, the Cardinals Jacob Hearne and Dominik Bovan would combine for 17 saves as they went to 14-3 on the season. Then with just over two minutes left in the period the Cardinals would get a third tally this time from Mattie Norton to make it a 3-0 Cardinal game. The Cardinals would keep it going in the second period when Ciara Wal would score four minutes in and make it a 4-0 game. Then about three minutes later Ivy Boric would get on the scoring sheet for the Cardinals to make it a 5-0 Cardinal lead. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals celebrate as Bennett Stockdale gets the game-winner with a minute left in the game. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would finish off the home portion of their 2022 season with a SUNYAC game against the Morrisville State Mustangs on the 3rd annual teddy bear toss night with 1750 fans in attendance. The Cardinals would get the opening goal of the game from Carson Gallagher at the 11:24 mark of the first period and the throwing of the bears would insure. That is where the game would stay til the 3:54 mark of the second when the Cardinals would score again from Mitchell Hale to take the 2-0 lead. Then just three minutes later the Cardinals would extend the lead to 3-0 on the Jake Lanyi goal. Although just twenty seconds later the Mustangs would get on the board with a Trevor Neumann goal and make it a 3-1 game. That is where the game would stay till the first minute of the third period when Jestin Somero would score for the Mustangs to make it a 3-2 game for the third. The Mustangs wouldn't give up and would tie the game halfway through the period with Trevor Neumann on his second goal of the game. Although the home Cardinals would keep peppering the Mustang goalie and would break down the wall with 59 seconds left in the game to get the game-winner from Bennett Stockdale and give the Cardinals the 4-3 win. In the winning effort, Elli Shiller would make 16 saves as they go to 8-3-2 on the season. The Cardinals would expand their lead to 2-0 on a powerplay goal by Kaitlin Drew-Mead at the 7:58 mark of the period. That might be where the scoring stopped in the first period but the Cardinals would explode for four goals in the second period from Mattie Norton, Tatem Cheney, Nicole Unsworth, and Mae Olshansky and take a huge 6-0 lead into the third period. In the third period the Cardinals would not let off the gas as they would score three more times this time from Sara Krausneck, Annie Katonka (2nd of the night), and Mae Olshansky (second of the night) and they would secure the 9-0 win. In the winning effort, Lilla Nease would make 20 saves for their first career shutout as the Cardinals would go to 5-0 on the season.
