Plattsburgh State's Ryan Kuhn (24) with the backhander goal over the shoulder as part of a two goal night. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Connecticut College Camels in front of 1400 fans in the W.B. Mason Winter Classic Semi-Finals. The Cardinals would get the opening goal of the game from Mike Falanga at 15:37 of the first period for the 1-0 lead. Then over the next over the next 1:45 the Cardinals would add two more goals from Charles Barber and Jesse Neher and the Camels would add one as we well to make it a 3-1 game. Thats where the game would stay til the 4:13 mark of the second period when Ryan Kuhn would score to make it 4-1. Then at the 11:21 mark of the period Ryan Kuhn would score on the powerplay to make it a 5-1 game. The Camels would strike back two minutes later with a goal of there to make it 5-2. Although that would be all the scoring on the night as the teams went scoreless in third period and the Cardinals get the 5-2 victory. With the win the Cardinals advance to the finals of the W.B. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals pose for there team photo as they are crowned the 2016 W.B. Mason Winter Classic champions. The game would be tight throughout the start and be scoreless after the first period of play. The Cardinals would take the 1-0 lead a 1:16 into the second period when Ryan Chaisson would get his first collegiate goal. Then at 12:14 mark of the second period, the Cardinals would extend there lead to 2-0 on a power-play goal from Pat Egan. Then in the last minutes of the third period, Ryan Botting would put the icing on the cake with his own power-play goal to secure the 3-0 victory and give the Cardinals the championship. In the winning effort, Spencer Finney would 26 saves for the shutout victory as the Cardinals go to 10-1-1 on the season. Gallery.
