Saranac's Bailey Marsh (21) with the backhander on the breakaway attempt. The Saranac Chiefs would host the West Seneca East Trojans in NYSPHSAA Boy's Hockey action. The game would be tight throughout the first period as there would be no scoring. The Trojans would get the opening goal of the game at the 5:25 mark on the Colin Schmatz would score for a 1-0 game. Although the Chiefs would answer back two minutes later to tie the game at 1 on the Nikolas Hamel goal. The Chiefs would take the 2-1 lead at the 5:55 mark of the third period on Nikolas Hamel's second goal of the game. The Chiefs would start to put the nail in the coffin as Austin Carpenter would score 54 seconds later to extend the lead to 3-1. Then in the final minute of the game, Hayden Buckley would score on the empty net to secure the 4-1 victory. In the winning effort, Macon Mero would make 34 saves and Nikolas Hamel would score twice as the Chiefs go to 8-5 on the season. Gallery

It would be a very tight game throughout and there would be no scoring in the first period. It would actually take till the last minute of the second period before there would be a goal and that would be the Trojans getting on the board with a Jacob Bily goal for a 1-0 Trojans lead. When the teams came back for the third period the Eagles would keep up the fight through the period going for the game-tying goal but it wouldn't happen. The Trojans would add a late empty-net goal from Hunter Kashuba to secure the 2-0 victory. In the losing effort, Riley Hansen would make 24 saves as the Eagles would fall to 3-4-1 on the season. The Eagles will be right back in action the next day as they travel to Potsdam to take on the Sandstoners as they look to get back to 500 on the season. Gallery.
