This would be a game that the young bird would have a hard time keeping up with the Golden Eagles and would trail 46-35 after the first half. When the team return for the second half the Cardinals wouldn't have much of an answer as the Golden Eagles win the second half 48-37 and get the 94-72 victory. The Plattsburgh State men’s basketball team’s 29-game home winning streak came to an end as SUNYAC play came to Memorial Hall, with a narrow 61-59 defeat at the hands of the Geneseo Knights. The first half set the tone for the tight affair, as the lead changed hands 10 times in the half, with Geneseo leading by as much as 5, while Plattsburgh’s largest lead stood at 3. Geneseo lead by a point with seconds remaining in the half before freshman Erik Salo beat the buzzer with a layup to send the Cardinals to the locker room with a 31-30 lead. Plattsburgh came out strong in the second half, building their lead to as much as 9. The Cardinals stayed in front through nearly the entire half, until a layup by Michael Gannon took the lead for the Knights with 27 seconds left on the clock. Gannon added a free throw to extend the lead to two. In the dying seconds of the game, Adam Jaquish made the would-be game-tying field goal just after time expired to end the game, sealing the Cardinals’ defeat. The loss ended Plattsburgh’s streak of wins in Memorial Hall, which encompassed the entire 2018-2019 season, and dropped the Cardinals to a 1-2 record in SUNYAC play. Gallery.

The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would open up the 2020 portion of there season with a nonconference battle against fellow North Country foe the Clarkson Golden Knights. It would be a game that you could tell both teams were coming off the holiday break as they would have spurts on the really good play and then some not so good play. The Cardinals and Golden Knights would keep it close throughout the first half and the Cardinals would have a slim 37-33 lead at the break. As the teams came back for the second half and it would actually be even half as the Cardinals would win the half 34-32 and secure the win at 71-65. In the winning effort, the Cardinals would get back to 500 at 4-4 and Nick DeAngelis would lead the way with 25 points. Gallery.

The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Cortland State Red Dragons in the first game of the final weekend of the season. The Cardinals would jump out to a big league in the first half and not look back as they would have a 46-28 lead at the break. When the teams came for the second half the Red Dragons would do there best to make a game of it but it wouldn't work. As the Cardinals would win the second half 49-46 and secure the easy 95-74 victory. In the winning effort, Eli Bryant and Jonathan Patron would lead the way with 22 points as the Cardinals go to 19-4 on the season. Gallery

The game would be tight throughout the first quarter and the Cardinals would trail 38-35 after the first half. When the teams came back for the second it would be a different half as the Cardinals would cross to win the half 39-22 and in turn win the game 74-60. In the winning effort, Jonathan Patron leads the way with 27 points as the Cardinals go to 16-4 on the season. Gallery
