Only 80 seconds into the game, however, a free throw by Lauren Romito gave the Knights a lead that they would never surrender. Geneseo led 24-14 after the first quarter and pulled away in the second as Plattsburgh shot 0-for-18 in the quarter. With Geneseo up by 21 points at halftime, the Cardinals faced an uphill battle to get back into the game. While they did outscore the Knights in both the third and fourth quarters, the final margin of 12 points was the closest score of the second half. The Knights were paced by Romito’s double-double performance, with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Kerrin Montgomery led with 17 points.
