Plattsburgh's Dan Hartman (11) with the wide-open three from the corner. It would be the last game of the regular season for both the Plattsburgh Hornets and the #1 Moriah Vikings as they would host them at the Hornets Nest in front of a full nest. The Hornets would not be a very good host to the Moriah Vikings as they would jump out and take control of the game with a 28-7 first quarter. In the second quarter, the Vikings would look to get back in the game with a 17-11 quarter although the Hornets would take the 39-24 lead into the intermission. When the teams would return for the second half the third quarter would be very evenly contested as the Hornets would have the slim 21-18 quarter and expand their lead to 60-42 into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Vikings would do their best to get back in the game with a 12-7 quarter but it wouldn't be enough as the Hornets would get the 67-54 victory. In the winning effort, the Hornets would go to 12-5 while the Vikings would fall to 17-2 on the season. Gallery

#1 Satanac Spartans Vs #2 Saranac Lake Red Storm November 4th 2023

The Saranac Spartans are crowned the 2023 Section VII Class C Champions. It would be the first championship of championship Saturday from Ausable Valley High School as the #17 (#1) Saranac Spartans would take on the #2 Saranac Lake Red Storm for the Section VII Class C Championships. The Spartans would jump out to the lead just 2:13 into the game on a 25-yard run by Landen Smith to give the Spartans the 7-0 lead. The Spartans would stay on the gas and extend their lead to 15-0 on a 2-yard run by Nathan Hamel. Then with just 1:12 left in the quarter, Nathan Hamel would score again this time from 18 yards out, and give the Spartans the 22-0 lead as the first quarter would come to an end. In the second quarter, the Spartans would stay on the gas as they would score two more times this time from Conner Burns and Alex Clancey, and give the Spartans the 36-0 lead as they headed into the locker room. When the teams returned for the second half it was looking like the first half again as the Spartans would score just 4:35 into the half on a 6-yard run by Haiden Blair to give the Spartans the 43-0 lead. The Red Storm would get on the board with a 12-yard passing touchdown with 1:20 left in the third quarter to make it a 43-6 game. However, the Red Storm would not just be happy with avoiding the shutout as they would score again with 4 minutes left in the game on the Evan Willett running score to make it 43-12 game. With that, the Saranac Spartans would hold onto the win and advance to the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament and will be in action next week against Section X's Gouvenour Wildcats in the opening round on November 10th. As for the Saranac Lake Red Storm, their season comes to an end at 1-8. Gallery

It would be the Section VII Class D Championship from the Beekmantown High School as the #8 (#1) Moriah Vikings would take on the #2 Ausable Valley Patriots for the right to go to the NYSPHAA Class D Tournament. The game would start off well for the Vikings as they would score just 3:50 into the game on a five-yard run by Evan Fleury to give the Vikings a 6-0 lead. The Vikings would stay on the gas and score just under four minutes later this time on a 2 yard run by Evan Fluery to extend their lead to 14-0. Then in the final 30 seconds in the first quarter, the Vikings would strike again this time from 34 yards and Evan Fluery would score again for his three score of the quarter to give the Vikings the 22-0 lead. The Vikings would slow down some and get just one score in the quarter on a 68-yard scramble to give the Vikings the 30-0 lead as the team went into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the Vikings would lighten up and there would only be one score on a 25-yard pass to Luke Smith to give the Vikings the 37-0 lead and the win. In the winning effort, the Vikings go to 7-2 on the season and will enter the NYSPHSAA Class D Tournament and take on the winner of Section II on November 17th. As the Ausable Valley Patriots season comes to an end at 1-8. Gallery

The Moriah Vikings keep there reign atop of Class D as they are crowned the 2023 Section VII Class D Championship. The game would remain scoreless all the way till the fifth inning when the Hornets would erupt for seven runs lead by a 2 rbi double by Nate Baker. The Hornets would stay hot in the following inning as they would another 4 runs in the sixth inning led by a rbi single by Jack Sorrell the Hornets would get the 11-0 victory. In the winning effort, Trenton Griffiths would go the complete game 1 hitter shutout while striking out eight as the Hornets go to 3-2 on the season while the Vikings fall to 1-2 on the season. NYSPHSAA Class C Boy's Basketball First Round: #8 Chatham Panthers Vs #1 Moriah Vikings March 5th 2023

Moriah's Cooper Allen (13) gets twisted in the air as he goes in for the layup and ends up with the reserve. It would be the opening round of the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament and would feature the #1 team in the state Moriah Vikings taking on number #8 Chatham Panthers from Clinton Community College. The game would start off well for the top team in the state as the Moriah Vikings would have a 15-9 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the team's high pace would continue as the Panthers would cut into the lead slightly with a 10-9 quarter but the Vikings would still have the 27-19 lead as they enter the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the tempo and pace would pick up right where it left off as the Panthers would have a 12-10 quarter to cut into the deficit a bit more as the Vikings would have the 37-31 lead as they enter the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter the Panthers would come all the way back and tie the game up at 46 and then with 1.5 seconds on the clock Drew Wemple would hit the jumper for the win. As the Chatham Panthers would pull off the upset of the #1 team in the state with the 50-46 victory and will advance to the quarterfinals and take on the #23 Canton Golden Bears. Gallery

It would be the second game of championship Sunday for Section VII Basketball and this would be in Class C Boy's action as the #1 Moriah Vikings would take on the #2 Northern Adirondack Bobcats. The game would get off to a fast start, which would be good for the Moriah Vikings as they would double up the Bobcats in the first quarter and have a 22-11 lead. In the second quarter, the Vikings would continue to impress as they would pull away with a 14-5 quarter and have a 36-16 lead as they entered the halftime break. When the teams would return for the second half the Vikings would not show any let up as they would 11-10 quarter and take a commanding 47-26 lead into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Vikings would let up and just coast the quarter as the Bobcats would win the quarter at 12-8 although the Vikings would hold on for the 55-38 victory. With the win, the Vikings will advance to the NYSPHSAA Class C Tournament and will play Chatham from Section 2 at Clinton Community College on March 8th with the winner getting Canton for the right to go to Final Four.
