The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would start the 2018 portion of the schedule with a home conference game against the Geneseo Knights. It would be a tight start to the game as the Cardinals trail 25-23 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Knights would extend there lead slightly as they would win the quarter 14-11 and have a 39-34 at the intermission. When the teams came back for the third quarter it would a defensive battle as the Knights would win the quarter 8-5 and have a 47-39 lead after the third. In the fourth quarter, the Knights would win the quarter slightly again 24-21 as the Cardinals would fall 71-60. The Cardinals would take the early 1-0 lead at 4:28 of the first on Pat Egan's goal. The Knights would answer back at the nine-minute mark to tie the game at 1. Then just 45 seconds into the second period the Knights would take the 2-1 lead. The game would stay there till 6:26 of the third period when the Cardinals would tie it at 2 on Kyle Hall's goal. The Cardinals would regain the lead at the 15-minute mark on Joe Drabin's goal at 3-2. Then just 30 seconds later Ross Sloan would score to extend the lead to 4-2. The Cardinals would finish it off with an empty netter on Pat Egan's second goal of the game as the Cardinals win 5-2. The game would be tight throughout the first half as the Panthers would have a slim 39-33 lead at the break. In the second half the Panthers offense would come alive as they would win the half 52-37 and the Cardinals would fall 91-70. It would be a rematch of last year's SUNYAC championship as the Plattsburgh State Cardinals would host the Geneseo State Knights. The Knights would get two goals in the first period for the early 2-0 lead. In the early part of the second period, the Cardinals would get two quick goals from Aryton Valente Scuyker Seyfert to tie the game at two. The Knights would regain the lead at 3-2 n a Connor Anthonie goal. The Cardinals would come back and tie the game back up at three on Pat Egan's goal. Although the Knights would answer back 42 seconds later to regain the one-goal lead at 4-3. At the ten minute mark of the third period the Knights would extend there lead to 5-3. With just over six minutes left the Cardinals would make it a one-goal game at 5-4 on Gavin Yates's goal. The Cardinals would fight through the rest but it wouldn't be enough as they fall short 5-4. The Knights would take the early advantage and not look back as they would have a 2-0 lead after the first period. In the second period, the Knights would add four more goals to have a 6-0 lead headed to the third period. In the third period, the teams would trade goals getting the lone Cardinal goal would be Nick Belger as the Knights would secure the 7-1 victory. In the losing effort, the Cardinals goaltenders would combine for 23 saves as the Cardinals go to 20-4-3 on the season and wait to see if they get an at large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Gallery
