Dirtcar Pro Stock Rob Yetman (7) attempts the slide job on Luke Horning on the last corner of the race and comes up that short. It would be the official start to the 2021 Dirtcar season at the Can-AM Speedway for the Thunder on the Thousand Islands presented by St. Lawrence Radiology and would feature 47 of the best Super Dirtcar Series races along with 50 Dirtcar Sportsman Modifieds and 20 Dirtcar Pro Stocks. After the Hot Laps and qualifying first to the track for racing would be the Sportsman Modified with 5 heats of racings all the wins would be wire to wire Brian Hudson, Zach Payne, Mike Fowler, Anthony Rasmussen, and Matt Janczuk. Next to the track would be the ground-pounders of the Super Dirtcar Series that would also have 5 heats of racing and once again the leader of the start would get the victories going to Carey Terrance, Eric Rudolph, Justin Hears, Pat Ward, and Matt Shepard. Then to finish off the heat races would be the Dirtcar Pro Stocks with two heats would be Ivan Joslin and Sid Harmer but the story of the heats would b be Tyler Coonradt spinning out and finishing deep in the field and hurting his starting position for the main. Then we would have the last chance qualifiers for the Super DIRTcar Series and Sportsman Modified but before they would go there the track would be down for some track prep as they did a great job and getting an outside grove to come in and make for some great races. As for the LCQ's first would be the Sportsman Modified with two races and wins going to Gavin Eisele and Robert Gage. Then it would be the Super Dirtcar Series for two last chance qualifiers and the wins would go to David Marcuccilli and the hometown boy Jordan McCreadie and that would end the qualifying races on the evening. Now it was on to the mains and first out of the gate would be the Dirtcar Sportsman Modified for a 30 lap event, Brian Hudson would get the lead off the start and lead for the first seven laps until a spin would put them under caution. They would get back racing but for only one lap as another spin would put them under the yellow. On the ensuing restart, Mike Fowler would take the lead. Although Matt Jancauck would stay on his trail and take over the lead on lap 14 and hold the lead till the end for the victory but not without a late-race charge from Tyler Corcoran to make him work for the victory. Next up would be the main event of the evening with the Super DIRTcar Series with the Thunder in the Thousands 100 and their season would start the way it finished last year as Max McLaughlin who won the last race in Weedsport's would start on the pole tonight. Although his lead would short-lived as Tim Fuller would use his local knowledge. There would be caution on lap 17 for a spin-out but then the big one would come out as Eric Rudolph running in the top 5 would have a flat on lap 71 and bring out the caution and the restart would come with 25 to go. The front row of the restart would be Tim Fuller and Stewart Fresien and Stewie would dive bomb turn 1 and take the lead from fuller until the caution came out on lap 78 for Max McLaughlin. Although Timmy Fuller would get one last restart to try and get Stewart Fresien as Rusty Smith would have an engine go south 15 to go. Although it would not matter as Stewart Fresien would hold on and get the opening win of the season over Tim Fuller and Larry Wight. The Super DIRTcar Series will be back in action in two weeks at the end of April as they take to the high banks at Bristol Motor Speedway for the first time ever. Then to finish off the night would be the DIRTcar Pro Stock for 20 laps. The local Sid Harmer Jr would sit on the pole and lead the first five laps through a couple of cautions. Although on the fifth lap Nick Stone would go around him for the lead. Then there would be another caution on lap 8 as the 33 of Pete Schroy would have to pull in. Then on the ensuing restart, Sid Harmer would take the lead back but it would be short live cause on the next lap Luke Horning would take the lead with 5 to go. Although it would not be easy to the end as Rob Yetman would be charging up and would try last-ditch slide job off of turn four on the final lap but there wasn't enough room and Luke Horning would wrap the bumper cover off and slide under and beat to him to the checkered for the win. Max McLaughlin (32c) celebrates in victory lane with his first Billy Whitaker Cars & Truxs Super DIRTcar Series victory and it comes at the biggest track on the circuit Weedsport Speedway. It would be the last stop on the Oktoberfast presented by Dirtvision tour and it would be at the Weedsport Speedway and we would have the Billy Whitaker Cars & Truxs Super DIRTcar Series Modifieds, Racing Electronics Sportsman Modified, and Comp Cams Pro Stock and with it being the last stop on the tour there would be extra money on the line for event and 175 cars in the pits. After all the qualifying and last chance qualifiers in the books, it would be onto the main event. The first main event of the night would be the Comp Cams Pro Stocks for 25 laps. The race would have a rough start as there would be three cautions before they got to lap two. Once the race got underway it would be a great race with the eventual win going to Nick Stone and his second of the week. Next up would be Racing Electronics Sportsman Modified in a 35 lap main event and the winner pocketing a cool two thousand dollars. With all the top contenders in the pits, it would take a lot just to make the 32 car field. Although when the dust would settle the cream would rise to the top and Kevin Root would get the win and second of the week. Then all that would be left would be the Billy Whitaker Cars & Truxs Super Dirtcar Series Modifieds for 75 laps and ten thousand dollars to the winner. With Matt Sheppard and Matt Williamson starting on the front row, the rest of the field would have an uphill battle. As the two of them would duke it out for the first half of the race. Then there would be a third player that would start to work his way into the battle in the likes of Max McLaughlin he would work his way around Williamson and then set his sights on Matt Sheppard. With around twenty laps to go McLaughlin would get around Sheppard for the lead and would hold off all the charges by Sheppard for the win. With the win, Max McLaughlin would get the first win of his career on the Super DIRTcar and cash in on the ten thousand dollars. That would bring an end to the Oktoberfast but there's still more for the Super DIRTcar Series as they plan on heading to the Eastern States at the Orange County Fair Speedway on October 24th and 25th. There would be a group of Super DIRTcar Series Modifieds sliding through the corner lead by Justin Haers (3) and Pat Ward's (42). It would be the next stop on the Oktoberfast presented by Dirtvision round 4 from the Land of Legends Raceway. It was planned to be a quick night of racing with just the Billy Whitaker Cars & Truxs Super Dirtcar Series and the Racing Electronics Sportsman Modified divisions the only two on the schedule. Although there would be a couple of issues with that plan as there would be nearly 125 cars show up and mother nature would not cooperate as there would be three separate rain delays on the night. After all the heats and last chance qualifiers would be done and schedule adjustments it would be onto the main events. In the first main event of the night, the Billy Whitaker Cars & Truxs Super DIRTcar Series would be up first for their 60 laps main event. It would be a dominating performance as 7-time champion Matt Sheppard would start on the pole and never relinquish the lead and cruise to the victory and take home the $7,500 first-place check with it and rounding out the top three would be Matt Williamson and Mike Mahaney. Then we would have the 30 lap Racing Electronics Sportsman Modified main event. That main event would be filled with nothing but a heartbreak as Zach Sobokta would lead 29 and three-quarter laps only to get passed on the final corner by Tyler Murray that would win the drag race to the finish line and rounding out the top three would be Alan Fink. Then there would only be one stop left on the tour and that would be the home of DIRTcar Northeast Weedsport and there would be extra money on the line for the last event of the week. Gallery

It would be a long night of racing at Lafargeville with the hot laps getting underway at 4:30 pm and the last race of the night would be getting done shortly before midnight. After all the qualifying and last chance qualifiers, the first man up for the night would be the Bicknell 358 Modifieds with 70 in attendance and only starting 32 for the 40 laps main event making the show would be an accomplishment in its self. When the dust would settle it would be track regular Timmy Fuller taking the win but not without a hard challenge from Anthony Pergeuro and Erick Rudolph. Then next would be the Racing Electronics Sportsman Modified would battle for 30 laps but their field would even be harder to get in as there were over 80 cars at the track trying to make the field of 32. Once again though when the dust would settle it would be a local racer using his knowledge to get the win as Kevin Root would pull into victory lane over Matt Janzuik and Tyler Cahoon for the thousand dollar payday. Then to finish off the night would be the Super Dirtcar Series presented by Billy Whitaker Cars and Truxs for a 60 lap main event and the winners take of $7,500 and when the dust would settle Anthony Pergero would pull in for the win as he would lead wire to wire over Mike Mahaney and Mike Maresca. Nathaniel Guay (55) and Robert Carpenter (46) split Matt Leonard (40) off the start of the Lake City Fire 4 Cylinder main. It would be the opening night of the 2020 season at Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway about 3 months late due to the Covid-19 pandemic. With it being so late in the season with the opener the big unknown would be how many cars show up for the race and the track would be pleasantly surprised with 73 cars for the four divisions. After all the heat races were down it would be onto the mains for the evening and first out of the box would be the Hartson Total Opening Pro Stocks and the winner main would be Jay Corbin but it would not be without stiff competition from Josh Coonradt. Then we would have the Ernie's Discount Totals Renegades which would start all 17 cars Shawn Duquette would away for the win on the night although the big battle in the main would be for 2-5 as Zack Daniels, Michael Wright, Bill Duprey, and Jim Mckerrian would swap the positions back and forth when the checkered flag flew it would be Daniels 2nd, Mckerrian 3rd, Duprey 4th and Wright fifth. Then we would have the main event of the evening with the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified with 36 in the pits the heats and Consi would be huge as they were starting 30 in the main. When the dust would settle the War Eagle Jack Speschock would get the win but not without hard competition from Dylan Rabtoy (early leader) along with Travis Bruno and Nick Heywood. Although the hard charger on the night would be DJ Gonyo who would have to fall to 30th after a first-lap spin but would charge up for an 18th place finish. Then to end the night it would be the Lake City Fire 4 Cylinders and there would be a familiar face in victory lane with Nathaniel Guay getting the win. All the excitement would come in the last lap of a restart when second and third tingled going for the spot and Tyler Bell and Caleb Tourville would slide into finish out the top three. What's next Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway is a wait and see the game but when we hear at KC Photo Video we will let the rest know. Gallery
