Peru's Zach Hunter (52) with the pass defecltion on the pass from Beekmantown's Nathan Parliament (9). It would be the opening week of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference season and it would start with the classic rivalry as the Peru Nighthawks would meet up with the Beekmantown Eagles. The game would start off good for the Nighthawks as they would get the opening score of the game at the 2:40 mark on a 12 pass to Zach Hunter for the 8-0 lead. Then just two minutes later the Nighthawks would strike again on a 58 yard run from Jack Hanson to extend the Peru lead to 16-0. The Eagles would get on the board in the closing seconds of the quarter on a 4 yard run from Parker Broughton to make it a 16-7 game at the end of the first quarter. Then at the 3:17 mark of the second quarter the Nighthawks would regain there two touchdown lead on a 13 yard pass to Landon Duprey to make it a 22-7 game. Then just about half way through the quarter the Eagles would strike again on a 1 yard run by Parker Broughton to make it a 22-14 game at the intermission. The Eagles would make it a 2 point game half way through the third quarter on a 8 yard pass to Evan Dixon at 22-20. With just over three minutes left in the third quarter Zach O'Connell would escape for a 36 yard run and the Nighthawks would go up 28-20. Then with under three minutes left in the game the Nighthawks would finish off the game on a 4 yard run by Jack Hanson would close out the game at 34-20. In the winning effort the Nighthawks go to 2-0 on the early season as they head to Plattsburgh next weekend against the Hornets. While the Eagles fall to 0-2 on the season and will head home to take on the Moriah Vikings next weekend. Gallery

The Northeastern Clinton Cougars are named the 2021-2022 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey champions and will head to the New York State Playoffs. It would be a match-up of the top two teams in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the #1 Beekmantown Eagles would faceoff with the #2 Northeastern Clinton Cougars for the conference championship at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse. The game would start out very evenly matched through the first period as there would be no score after one but that doesn't mean that there weren't chances by both teams to get on the board. The Cougars would finally break the ice and get the opening goal of the game from Reid LaValley for the 1-0 lead 4:12 into the second period. The game would stay there till the 10:34 mark of the period when Reid Fessette would get the equalizer on the unassisted goal. Then in the final 90 seconds of the period, the Eagles would pull ahead on the Luke Moser powerplay goal to take a 2-1 lead into the second intermission, The game would stay there till the ten-minute mark of the third period when Reid Levalley would strike for the second goal of the game and tie the game at two. The game would stay there through the rest of the regulation and we were headed into that all-important overtime. It would take until there were eight seconds left in the second overtime when Reid LaValley would strike for the third time and get the championship. With the win, the Northeastern Clinton Cougars will be headed to the NYSPHSAA Division 2 tournament and will take on the #1 team in the state Pelham on March 5th for the right to go to the NYSPHSAA Final Four March 12th-13th. Saranac's (10) drives hard to the basket and lays it off the window for the score on the way to the win. It would be the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Class B Semi-finals as the #1 Saranac Chiefs would host the #4 Beekmantown Eagles for the right to play in the finals next Saturday, March 5th at Clinton Community College. The game would start off good for the top-seeded Chiefs as they would have the 16-9 lead after the first quarter. The Chiefs would continue to pull away through the second quarter but the Eagles would do their best to keep it close with a 10-6 Chiefs quarter and 26-15 lead at the break. When the teams would come back for the third quarter the Eagles would come soaring back with a 25-16 quarter making it a slim 42-40 lead for the Chiefs as they headed into the fourth quarter. In that fourth quarter, the Chiefs shut down defense would return with a 17-4 quarter and end up cruising to the 59-44 win. In the winning effort, they will advance to the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference championship march at Clinton Community College on March 5th against Northeastern Clinton Cougars. Gallery

It would be senior night at the Plattsburgh State Fieldhouse as the Beekmantown Eagles would host the Northeastern Clinton Cougars in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action in what might be a preview of the championship that will be held in ten days. It wouldn't take long for the home Beekmantown Eagles to get on the board as they would light the lamp at the 2:49 mark of the first period on the Anthony Marion goal for the 1-0 lead and that's how the first period would end. Then at the 4:40 mark of the second period, Ryan Racine would come in the breakaway and beat the goalie, and tie the game at 1. Then about halfway through the second period the Eagles would come back and regain the 1 goal lead on the Zachary Lapier powerplay goal. That is where the game would stay still just under three minutes left in the game when the Eagles Keegan Rodier would shoot from the left faceoff circle and light the lamp and secure the 3-1 win. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles would secure the regular-season crown and the #1 seed in the upcoming playoffs and will wait for the winner of Plattsburgh and Saranac Lake-Lake Placid on February 24th. The Saranac Chiefs would host the Beekmantown Eagles in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey action at Amer-Can North Arena. It would be a very evenly matched game with some hard-hitting and there would be no scoring through the first period of action. The first goal of the game would come in the first minute of the second period from Saranac's Ashtyn Catlin to give the Chiefs the 1-0 lead. The lead would be short-lived as the Eagles would get the equalizer four minutes later from Jake Brunham to tie the game at one. Although the Chiefs would answer back just eight seconds later from Ethan Barnes and make it a 2-1 game. Then just 2:36 into the third period the Chiefs would expand on their lead and make it a 3-1 game on the Landon Duprey goal. Then in the closing minutes of the game, the Chiefs would add an empty netter from Hunter Provost to secure the 4-1 victory. Next for the teams, the Saranac Chiefs will play Saranac Lake-Lake Placid on February 14th as the Beekmantown Eagles will be in action on February 15th against the Plattsburgh Hornets. Gallery
