Plattsburgh's Madeleine Woodward (19) with the header out by midfield to keep the ball in the offensive zone. It would be a C.V.A.C. match up between the Plattsburgh Hornets and Ausable Valley Patriots The Hornets would get the opening goal in the 12th minute from Brina Michaels for the 1-0 lead. The Hornets would extend the lead to 2-0 in the closing minute of the first half when Brina Michaels would get her second goal of the game. The Hornets would jump right out in the second half and extend the lead to 3-0 when Madeleine Woodward would score in the 41st minute. In the 48th minute, Madeleine Woodward would strike again for the Hornets to make it 4-0. Then in the 63rd minute, the Patriots would get there lone goal of the game to make it 4-1. Then the 71st minute the Hornets would add one more from Tenzin Pema to secure the 5-1 victory. Gallery.

This would be a game that would not be in doubt from the beginning as the Hornets would score 6 first half goals from Nick Provost, Henry Wylie along with a couple others. In the second half it would be more of the same as the Hornets would add three more goals coming from Abdousabour Tidjami, and Andrew Follmer. As the Plattsburgh Hornets would secure the 9-0 victory. Plattsburgh's Abdousabour Tidjani (18) comes in on the breakaway and puts the shot over the diving goalie for the score. It would be the Plattsburgh Hornets hosting the Au Sable Valley Patriots in C.V.A.C. action. Ausable Valley Patriots Vs Saranac Lake Red Storm September 1st 2017

Ausable Valley's Jason Fletcher (21) with the leaping catch over the middle although the catch didn't count because of a holding penalty still 100% effort. It would be opening night of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference football season and the Ausable Valley Patriots would host the Saranac Lake Red storm. The Red Storm would get the opening score of the game as Jarrett Ashton would bust out for 61 yards for the 6-0 lead. The would stay there til 3 minutes into the 2nd quarter when Mason Douglas would return a fumble and give the Patriots the 8-6 lead. The Red Storm would answer right back on Jarrett Ashton's second touchdown of the night and regain the 14-8 lead. On the next Patriots possession, Matthew Pray would break it 80 yards and the Patriots would take the 16-14 lead back. Although the Red Storm would strike again on a Jacob Shipman 50 yard touchdown reception to give the Red Storm the 22-16 lead at the break. When the teams came back for the second half the Patriots defense would step up and take charge of the game. The Patriots would retake the lead at 24-22 on a Luis Perez 8 yard reception and score with just under 5 minutes left in the third quarter. The Patriots would extend there lead to 30-22 a 71-yard touchdown run for Matthew Pray his second of the game Then with just under 8 minutes left in the game Jarrett Ashton would get his third touchdown of the game and tie the game at 30. The Patriots would regain the lead at 38-30 with 6:30 left in the game on Matthew Pray's third touchdown of the game and secure the 38-30 win. In the winning effort, the Patriots start there season at 1-0 while the Red Storm falls to 0-1. Gallery.

Peru and Northern Adirondack wrestle battle for position in the 150lb weight class Northern Adirondack would eventually win the class. It would be the section VII sectional championships from Peru. The five schools that would be competing would be Peru Saranac, Ausable Valley, Northern Adirondack, and Beekmantown. All class winners would advance on to the New York State wrestling championships in two weeks in Albany. The eventual school champion would be Peru followed by Saranac. Gallery

Saranac's Johnny Devins going for the pin of the Peru wrestler in the 143 class finals. It would be the section VII sectional championships from Peru. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic contest featuring the Saranac Chiefs and Ausable Valley Patriots it would also be the hall of fame night in Ausable. The game would start off tight as the Patriots would hold a one-point lead after one at 15-14, In the second quarter the Patriots would open up the game-winning the quarter 22-10 and have a 37-24 lead at the intermission. During halftime of the game, the Patriots would honor there 2016 Hall of Fame class by inducting Joey Painter, Evan Mousseau, Craig Beizo, and the 1994 football team. When the teams came back out for the third quarter they would come out a little slow as the Chiefs win the quarter 8-4 but still trail 41-32. In the fourth quarter, the Chiefs would try there best to get back in the game but the deficit would be too much as they tie the quarter at 12 and fall to the Patriots 53-44. Leading the way for the Chiefs would be Nick Mathers with 25 points as the Chiefs fall to 3-7 on the season. Gallery

Saranac's Johnny Devins (22) with the run up the middle for the game winning score. It would be Week 8 of the Champlain Valley Atheltic Conference season and Semi-Finals of Class C pitting #2 Ausable Valley Patriots and #3 Saranac Chiefs. It would be an evenly matched game through the great equalizer the rain there would be no score after the first quarter. The Saranac Chiefs would take a 6-0 lead into half on a QB sneak by Johnny Maye with 5 minutes left in the half. In the third quarter with 8 minutes left the Ausable Valley Patriots would tie the game up at 6 on a Tyler Atkins run. The game would remain there through regulation. They would go into overtime tied at six. In that overtime the Chiefs would score on a short run by Johnny Devins on there first possession to secure the win and advance to the Class C finals against the Saranac Lake Red Strom. Gallery
