The Plattsburgh Hornets would be hosting the Ausable Valley Patriots in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action at their temporary home the Stafford Middle School as their normal place is under a remodel. The Hornets would get the opening goal of the game in the 26th minute on the goal from Gul to make it 1-0 Hornets. The game would remain there for the next few minutes until the Hornets would strike again in the 33rd minute on the Kavanaugh goal to make it 2-0 as they head into the half. When the teams came back for the second half the Hornets would stepdown on the gas they would strike for four goals from Kavanaugh (twice) to finish off the hat trick, Ferris, and Trombley as the Hornets secure a 6-0 victory. The five section VII schools would meet at Saranac for the 2013 Section VII Wrestling Championship. There would be many good matches throughout the day with many of them going the distances and some needing the extra period. As a team Peru would defend there sectional title with a score of 244, 2nd Beekmentown 203, 3rd Saranac 169, 4th Northern Adirondack 155 and 5th Ausable Valley 79. We would like congratulate all the individual winners and wish them the best of luck at the State Championships in Albany at the Times Union Center on February 22nd and 23rd. Gallery

The Malone Huskies would host the Ausable Valley Patriots in non league action as the Huskies finish off the regular season. The game would be a defensive battle through out with both teams holding the other down. The Patroits would have the 14-8 lead after the first quarter. The Huskies would do there best to get in the game and a 20-18 lead at the break thanks to a 12-4 second quarter. Then when the teams returned for the third quarter it would stay tight as the Patroits would win the quarter 15-14 but the Huskies would still have the 34-33 lead. In the fourth quarter the Patroits defense would really step up as they would hold the Huskies to three points and win the quarter 10-3 to take the 43-37 victory. It would be week four of the C.V.A.C. season and the Ausable Valley Patriots would travel to the Peru Indians. The Patriots would take the 7-0 lead with 4:25 left in the first quarter on Brandon Snow's catch in the corner of the end zone. The Patriots would extend the lead to 13-0 on Brandon Snow's second touchdown of the day with 2:05 left in the half. That would be all the Patriots would need as the teams would go scoreless in the second half as the Patriots would hold on for the 13-0 victory. It would be the #2 Au Sable Valley Patriots hosting the #3 Saranac Lake Red Storm in the Section 7 Class C Semi-Finals. The Red Storm would get the first score of the game from Jarrett Ashton on a 12 yard run to take the 6-0 lead 5:14 into the first quarter. The Red Storm would extend there lead to 14-0 on Jarrett Ashton's 1 yard run in the closing minute of the first quarter. The Patriots would answer back 3:37 into the second quarter with a 2 yard run by Matthew Pray to to make it a 14-6 game. The Red Storm would come back to regain there 14 point lead on a 19 yard pass to Ward Walton at 7:32 on the second quarter to make it 21-6. When the teams came back for the second half the Red Storm would not let up as they would extend the lead to 28-6 on Jarrett Ashton's third touchdown run of the night. In the fourth quarter the Red Storm's DJ Morgan would a running touchdown to put the icing on the cake of a 35-6 victory. In the winning effort the Red Storm go 2-6 and will face the Saranac Chiefs in the Class C Championship. In the losing effort the Patriots season comes to end at 1-7.Gallery

Ausable Valley's Eli Douglas (24) would win the opening tip of the game and start the Patriot run in the first quarter. It would be the Section VII Class C Finals and it would be the top-seeded and number 1 in the State Moriah Vikings going against the #2 seeded Ausable Valley Patriots from the SUNY Plattsburgh Fieldhouse. The game would start off good for the upset-minded Ausable Valley Patriots as they would storm out to a 17-11 lead after the first quarter. Although the Vikings wouldn't let that stand and they would make a comeback with a 16-9 quarter for a 27-26 lead at the break. Although the end of the half would not come without a little drama as Luis Perez would half-court shot as the horn sounded to cut it to one. When the team's comeback for the third quarter so would the Vikings offense as they would run with a 20-10 quarter and have a 47-36 lead head into the fourth. In the fourth quarter, the Vikings would let up with the big lead and win the quarter 12-9 for the 59-45 victory. With the win, the Moriah Vikings clinch there 9th straight Section VII Title and head to the state tournament and take on the Madrid Waddington Yellow Jackets from Section X. Gallery

Saranac Lake's Ben Munn (2) flies into the endzone over Ausable Valley's defender for the score It would be a matchup between the Saranac Lake Red Storm and the Ausable Valley Patriots for the Section VII Class C Championship. The Patriots would strike first and quick as they would Luis Perez on 73 yard pass just 20 seconds into the game for the 8-0 lead. The Red Storm would strike right back in under a minute on a 1 yard run by Rhett Darrah to make it 8-6 2 minutes into the game. Then with 39 seconds left in the first quarter the Red Storm would score on a 84 yard pass to Jeffrey Lavair to make it 12-8 Red Storm. The Patriots would strike right back 19 seconds into the second quarter on 69 yard pass to Nate Doner to make it 14-12. Then five minutes into the quarter the Red Storm would regain the lead at 18-14 on a 28 yard pass to Jeffrey Lavair. Although Patriots would answer right back in thirty seconds on a 54 yard pass to Eli Douglas to make it 20-18 at the half. When the teams came back for the third quarter the Red Storm would regain the lead at 24-20 on a 20 yard pass to Jeffrey Lavair. Then four minutes into the fourth quarter the Red Storm would extend there lead to 31-20 on a one yard run by Ben Munn. Although the Patriots would make a game of down the stretch as as they would hit Eli Douglas on a 45 yard pass with 6 minutes left to make it 31-26. From there though the Saranac Red Storm would hold on for the Section VII Class C title and advance to the New York State Class C Playoffs and take on the Gouvenour Wildcats. Gallery

Ausable Valley's Luis Perez (3) comes back on the ball for the catch and then turns up the field for the 65 yard touchdown.It would be week 6 of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and would feature the Moriah Vikings traveling up to the the Au Sable Patriots. The game would start of good for the Patriots as they would hit Luis Perez with a 65 yard pass on the first play of the game for a quick 8-0 lead. Although the Vikings would strike right back two plays later with a Maddox Blaise 63 yard run to tie the game at 8. Then the Vikings would strike again at 4:17 mark of the first quarter on a 3 yard run and take a 16-8. The Vikings would strike one more time in the first quarter with 4 minutes left on Mason Spring sneak to take a 24-8 lead. As time would expire in the first quarter the Patriots would cut the lead in half at 24-15 on the Evan Snow QB sneak. The scoring would slow down from there as the Vikings would score 3 minutes into the quarter on the Luke Spring 15 yard pass to make it 30-15. The Vikings would score as time would expire in the half on a very controversial touchdown Braden Swan to make it 38-15 at the half. When the teams came back the second half the scoring would slow down. As the Vikings would get the only score of the half at 3:24 of the third quarter on the Maddox Blaise run and secure the 44-15 win. In the winning effort the Moriah Vikings go to 4-2 while the Ausable Valley Patriots fall to 3-3 season as the teams go into the last week of the season. Gallery
