Saranac's Aislyn Liberty (5) deliveries the strike for the strikeout as part of a complete game four strikes outperformance. It would be a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Softball matchup between the Saranac Chiefs and the Peru Nighthawks in early season action. The game would start off good for the home Nighthawks as they would get five runs in the first two innings and take the 5-0 lead. In the third inning, the Chiefs would start to get back in the game with two runs on Benjamin and Owen base hits for a 5-2 game. The game would stay there till the sixth when the Nighthawks would get two runs again to resecure their five-run lead at 7-2 and that's where the game would finish for the Nighthawks win. Gallery

Plattsburgh's shortstop with the juggling catch on the pop-up in the middle of the infield. It would be the season opener for the Plattsburgh Hornets and the Peru Nighthawks in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action at the redone Plattsburgh Hornets field. The game would start off fast and furious for the home Hornets as they would get six runs in the first for the early 6-0 lead. The Hornets would continue the offense in the second inning as they would get three more to extend their lead to 9-0. The early game success would continue in the third with another two runs and they were off to the races with an 11-0 lead. The game would stay there all the way to the 6th inning when the Nighthawks would finally get on the board with a pair of runs for the 11-2 game. Although the Hornets would get four runs in the sixth to make it a 15-2. Then the last inning the Nighthawks would get a pair as they made a last-ditch effort at the game as the Hornets get the 15-4 win and go to 1-0 on the season while the Nighthawks fall to 0-1 Gallery

It would be the season opener for the Plattsburgh Hornets and the Peru Nighthawks in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action at the redone Plattsburgh Hornets field. The game would start off fast and furious for the home Hornets as they would get six runs in the first for the early 6-0 lead. Plattsburgh State's Claire Palmer (7) slaps the tag on Oneonta State's baserunner on the steal attempt. The Plattsburgh State Cardinals were back in action the next day as they would take on the Oneonta State Red Dragons in doubleheader action. The Red Dragons would get first blood as they would get four runs in the third inning highlighted by a 2 rbi double by Serena. The Red Dragons would get a single run in the fourth and fifth to make it a 6-0 game. The Cardinals would get on the board in the fifth with a fielders choice by Kelsey Waite to make it a 6-1 game. Then in the sixth inning, the Red Dragons would add three more runs lead by Serena 2 rbi double for the 9-1 lead to invoking the mercy rule as the Cardinals lose game 1 and fall to 5-8 on the season. After a twenty-minute break, the teams would return for the second game of the doubleheader and it would once again start off badly for the Cardinals as they would give up three runs in the first inning led by Digiovanni rbi single. Although in the bottom of the inning the Cardinals would answer back with a pair of runs by Sam Gentile and Kelsey Waite for a 3-2 game. The Red Dragons would extend the lead back to a Cardinals error making it 4-2. The Red Dragons would make it a three-run game on a rbi single by Mangone in the fifth inning. The Cardinals would answer back in the fifth as Golino would score on a wild pitch. The Cardinals would make it a one-run game in the sixth inning on a rbi single by Golino at 5-4. Although in the top of the seventh the Red Dragons would put the final touches on the sweep for the day on a rbi double by Hussey and secure the 6-4 win. In the loss, the Cardinals fall to 5-9 on the season and will be back in action on April 5th as they travel to St. Lawerence and take on the Saints. Gallery

The Plattsburgh State Cardinals would open up the conference portion of their season as they would host the New Paltz Hawks in doubleheader action. The first game would be low scoring affair as the Cardinals would get single runs in the third and fourth innings. The scoring plays would come from Langdon in the third on a bunt rbi and a rbi double by Gentile for the 2-0 win. In the winning effort, Golino would go the distance for a shutout win while striking out six as they go to 4-7 on the season. After about a twenty break the teams would return for the second game of the doubleheader. The scoring would start quickly in the second game as the teams would trade runs in the second thanks to a rbi single by Maggiacomo to tie the game at one after two innings. Although the tie would not last long as the Hawks would get 3 runs in the top of third for a 4-1 lead. Although in the bottom of the fourth inning the Cardinals would explode for eight runs thanks in large part to a three rbi triple by Langdon to take the 9-4 lead and that's where the game would stay for the win. In the win, the Cardinals would earn the sweep on the day as Kristina Maggiacomo would strike out 12 in the complete-game win as they go to 5-7 on the season.
