Plattsburgh's Dylan Pachter (11) pancakes the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid attacker into the glass as they battle for the puck in the corner. It would be the start of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey playoffs and it would begin with the play in-game as the #4 Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #5 Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers with the winner getting the #1 Beekmantown Eagles in the semi-finals on February 24th. The upset-minded Lakers would get the opening goal of the game just 3:02 into the game from Brady Tremblay for the 1-0 lead. The Hornets would keep up the fight and tie the game at the 6:38 mark of the period on the Bostyn Duquette goal. and that is where the first period would end. In the second period, the Hornets would take the lead at 2-1 at the 3:41 mark of the second period on the Hayden Colburn goal. The game from there would get very physical til the end of the game the Lakers would have many good opportunities to get the equalizer but just couldn't get there. In the closing seconds of the game, the Hornets would add the empty netter from Drew Knowles to secure the 3-1 victory. In the winning effort, Ty Calkins would make 20 saves as the Hornets advance to the Semi-finals of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and face off with the #1 Beekmantown Eagles Gallery

Saranac's Mason Patnode (31) with the glove save that he sends high off the stick of Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers Bailey Bartholomew (7). We would start the last week of the regular season in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference hockey season with a battle of the Saranac's as the Chiefs would host the Lakers. The game would start off evenly match as both teams were looking for an edge and the Chiefs would finally get it at the 13:52 mark as Landon Duprey would score on the powerplay to take the 1-0 lead. Then with just five seconds left in the period, the Chiefs would strike again and take the 2-0 lead on the Hayden Buckley goal. When the teams would come back for the second period the Chiefs would look to take a stranglehold on the game at 3-0 at 5:13 mark as Landon Duprey would get his second of the game. Then just over a minute later the Lakers would start to crawl their way back into the game as they would get on the board and make it a 3-1 game. Then just 30 seconds the Lakers would be able to make it a one-goal game at 3-2. Then at the 11:06 mark of the second period, the comeback would be complete as Bailey Bartholomew would strike to tie the game at three. Although the Chiefs would finally get an answer with just over a minute left in the period on Landon Duprey's hat trick goal to take the lead back at 4-3. The Chiefs would quickly regain their two-goal lead at 5-3 just 15 seconds into the third period as Landon Duprey would add his fourth goal of the game. The Lakers would throw everything they had it at throughout the rest of the period but the Chiefs would be up to the task and secure the 5-3 victory. Gallery

Beekmantown's Cooper Burdo (8) with the backhanded shot as he cuts in front of the net for the goal. It would be the third matchup of the season between the last members of the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference title game as the Beekmantown Eagles would host the Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers. The game would start off good for the home Eagles as they would get the opening goal of the game at the 5:41 mark of the first period from Sam Bingel. Although just over two minutes later the Lakers would get the equalizer from Noah Munn to tie the game at one. Then with just over three minutes left in the period, the Eagles would retake the lead at 2-1 on the shorthanded goal from Cooper Burdo to end the first period. Then just 2:44 into the second period would get their first two-goal lead of the night on the Reagan Dudyak goal at 3-1. The Lakers would keep fighting and get the game back to 3-2 at the 4:14 mark on the Jon Kratts goal. The Eagles would reclaim their two-goal lead at 4-2 on the Louis Sweenor powerplay goal. Although with just about 3:30 left in the period Lakers would bring it back to 4-3 on the goal from Hugo Hobson on the two-man advantage to end the scoring in the second period. Then in the third period, the Eagles would put the finishing touches on the game as they would light the lamp three times from Sam Bingel (second of the night), Zachary Lapier, and Anthony Marion to secure the 7-4 victory. Plattsburgh's Braeden Calkins (12) with the rebound goal that he stuffs in the corner pass the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid goal. It would be the third meeting of the season between the Plattsburgh Hornets and the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action. The game would start off good for the visiting Lakers as they would get on the board in the first minute of the game. The Hornets would answer back quickly at the 2:10 mark on the goal by Braeden Calkins and tie the game at one, The game would stay there till the 13:20 mark on the Lakers would regain the one-goal lead at 2-1. Although the Hornets would have answered with under two minutes left in the first period when Bostyn Duquette would light the lamp to tie the game at two. The Hornets wouldn't waste long in the second period and take the 3-2 lead at just 1:44 into the second period on the Jace Lacey goal. The Hornets would strike again and quickly just two minutes later when Jackson Kain would score on the power play and make it a 4-2 game. Then to close a fast five minutes the Hornets would strike again this time again from Braeden Calkins for his second of the night to make it a 5-2 game. Then early in the third period, the Hornets would put the icing on the cake with a goal by Drew Knowles to make this a 6-2 game. In the closing stages of the game, the Lakers would get one from Tyler Hinckley to make it a 6-3 game and that's where the game would end. Before the game begin we would take time to honor a pair of longtime supporters to the program Hector Duquette and Steve for their services working the penalty box they would be named after them. It would be playoff time in the Upstate New York Girl's Hockey League as the #2 Plattsburgh Hornets would host the #3 Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers in the Section VII semi-finals. It would take some time for the teams to feel each other out as the Hornets would get the lone goal of the opening period with under three minutes left as Amaya Abellard would light the lamp on the shorthand goal for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there til the 5:40 mark of the second period when the Hornets would stretch their lead to 2-0 from Susie Kennedy. Then just five minutes later the 10:04 mark the Hornets would up their lead to 3-0 on the Mckenzie Brown goal. Then in the third period, the Hornets would put the icing on the game with a pair of goals from Amaya Abellard (second of the game) and Ada Johnson as they secure the 5-0 win. In the winning effort, Amelle Lebrun would make ten saves for the shutout as the Plattsburgh Hornets move on to the Section VII Championship on February 3rd at the Herb Brooks Arena as they will face the Malone Huskies. Beekmantown's Reid Fessette (17) with the quick snapper from the face-off circle for the goal. It would be the rematch two years in the making as it would feature the Beekmantown Eagles and Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers facing again for the first time since there 2020 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference championship game. It would be a very physical game from start to finish and with that in mind, it would take till 2:15 left in the first period for the opening goal of the game from Beekmantown's Anthony Marion for the 1-0 Eagles lead. Then about halfway through the second period at the 8:34 mark, the Eagles would extend their lead to 2-0 on the Bingel goal. Just about a minute later the Lakers would get on the board and put the game back at a 1 goal game on the Hugo Hobson goal. The one goal difference would be short-lived as the Eagles would regain their 2 goal lead at 11:44 of the period on the Luke Moser goal for a 3-1 lead after the second period. Then just 1:30 into the third period the Eagles would make it 4-1 as DJ Gonyo would go coast to coast for the goal top shelf. Although the Lakers would show some life as they would light the lamp just 45 seconds later on the Noah Munn-Jennings goal to make it 4-2. The Eagles would answer back at the 6:43 mark of the period on the Reid Fessette rifle shot and take the 5-2 lead back. Then in the closing minutes of the game, the Eagles would add a shorthanded empty netter from Luke Moser his second of the night for the 6-2 win. Gallery
