Kenmore East's Tro Normandin (26) with the crunching hit behind the net on Saranac's Jonathan Roy (7). The Saranac Chiefs would get their 2022-23 season underway with a nonleague against the Kenmore East Bulldogs from western New York. The Bulldogs would get the scoring started at the 5:34 mark of the first period on the goal by Parker Cerkiewicz and take the 1-0 lead. Although the Chiefs would answer back in the final five minutes of the period with a goal by Zach O'Connell to tie the game at one. Although the Bulldogs would answer back in the final 90 seconds of the period and retake the one-goal lead at 2-1 on the goal by Dylan McDonald. Although the Chiefs would fight and tie the game at two in the closing seconds of the period on a goal by Adrian Barnes. The Bulldogs would come out swinging in the second period and take the 3-2 lead on the Austin Turnbull goal. Although with under five minutes left in the second period the Chiefs would score twice in 15 seconds from Landon Duprey and Brody Macomber and take the 4-3 lead into the third period. Just 3:50 into the third period would fight and tie the game at four on the goal by Troy Normandin. The Chiefs would not give up though and would regain the 5-4 lead with 3:30 left in the game on Zach O'Conell's second goal of the game. Although in the final minute of the game the Chief's defense would collapse and they would give two goals and the Bulldogs would get the 6-5 victory. Next up for the Chiefs would be the Grand Island Vikings as they look to right the ship. While the Kenmore East Bulldogs will go for the sweep on the weekend as they will face off with the Beekmantown Eagles. Gallery

Northeastern Clinton's Reid LaValley (2) comes in on the break and flips it over Saranac's Mason Patnode for the goal and 1-0 lead. It would be semi-finals boys hockey in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the #2 Northeastern Clinton Cougars would host the #3 Saranac Chiefs. The game would start off quick for the home Cougars as they would get the opening goal of the game from Reid LaValley for the 1-0 lead. Although the Chiefs would answer back fast and furious as they would answer back with three goals of their own in the next few minutes from Caitlin, Hayden Buckley, and Zack O'Connell and take the 3-1 to the end of the period. In the second period, there would be no scoring although it wouldn't be for the lack of trying and the Chiefs would keep their 3-1 lead as they head to the third. The game was starting to look like the Chiefs were going to the upset win but at 2:24 left in the game, the Cougars would make it a one-goal game at 3-2 Reid LaValley. Then with 1:27 left the Cougars would tie the game up on the Ryan Racine goal and from there the game would go to overtime. In the overtime, the Cougars would come all the way back and get the win at 4-3 on the Chase Letourneau with 3:38 left in the overtime. #3 Saranac Chiefs @ #2 Northeastern Clinton Cougars February 24th 2022

The celebration is on as the Northeastern Clinton Cougars get the game-winner in overtime and advance to the conference championship next week. It would be semi-finals boys hockey in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the #2 Northeastern Clinton Cougars would host the #3 Saranac Chiefs. The game would start off quick for the home Cougars as they would get the opening goal of the game from Reid LaValley for the 1-0 lead. The game would start off evenly match as both teams were looking for an edge and the Chiefs would finally get it at the 13:52 mark as Landon Duprey would score on the powerplay to take the 1-0 lead. Then with just five seconds left in the period, the Chiefs would strike again and take the 2-0 lead on the Hayden Buckley goal. When the teams would come back for the second period the Chiefs would look to take a stranglehold on the game at 3-0 at 5:13 mark as Landon Duprey would get his second of the game. Then just over a minute later the Lakers would start to crawl their way back into the game as they would get on the board and make it a 3-1 game. Then just 30 seconds the Lakers would be able to make it a one-goal game at 3-2. Then at the 11:06 mark of the second period, the comeback would be complete as Bailey Bartholomew would strike to tie the game at three. Although the Chiefs would finally get an answer with just over a minute left in the period on Landon Duprey's hat trick goal to take the lead back at 4-3. The Chiefs would quickly regain their two-goal lead at 5-3 just 15 seconds into the third period as Landon Duprey would add his fourth goal of the game. The Lakers would throw everything they had it at throughout the rest of the period but the Chiefs would be up to the task and secure the 5-3 victory. Gallery

The lead would be short-lived as the Eagles would get the equalizer four minutes later from Jake Brunham to tie the game at one. Although the Chiefs would answer back just eight seconds later from Ethan Barnes and make it a 2-1 game. Then just 2:36 into the third period the Chiefs would expand on their lead and make it a 3-1 game on the Landon Duprey goal. Then in the closing minutes of the game, the Chiefs would add an empty netter from Hunter Provost to secure the 4-1 victory. It would be a very physical game throughout and it would take till the 11:05 mark of the first period for the opening goal from Hornets Jackson Kain for the 1-0 lead. The Hornets would extend their lead to 2-0 two minutes later on the Hayden Colburn goal. The Chiefs would answer back and cut the defect in half at 2-1 on the Buckley goal. The Saranac Chiefs would fight back and get the tie at 2-2 on the Hunter Provost goal. The game would stay there till the 10:37 mark of the period when the Hornets Jace Lacey would light the lamp for the 3-2 Hornets lead. Then in the final three minutes of the period, the Hornets would get their three-goal lead back on the Jackson Kain 2nd and third goal and make it 5-2 at the end of the second period.
