Boquet Valley's Jackson Hooper (3) with the breakaway layup that he would lay it off the window for two points. It would be the season opener for the Seton Catholic Knights as they would host the Boquet Valley Griffins in Mountain Valley Athletic Conference action. The first quarter would not go the way of the Knights as they were still feeling stuff out in the opener and would trail 13-2 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Knights would come alive and make a game of it with a 13-4 quarter and trail by a slim 17-15 at the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the Griffins would find their game again, take the quarter 13-8 and the 30-23 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the defenses would step up and the Griffins would win the quarter by a slim 9-8 and secure the 39-31 victory. In the winning effort, the Griffins will stay perfect in the early season at 2-0 while the Knights fall to 1-1. Gallery

Beekmantown Eagles @ Plattsburgh Hornets Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Basketball December 8th 2022

Plattsburgh's Max Filosca (5) with the mid range jumper over Beekmantown's Nathan Parliament (23) for the score. It would be the home opener for the Plattsburgh Hornets as they would take on crosstown rival the Beekmantown Eagles to get the home portion of their 2022-23 season underway and would like to right the ship as they lose the first couple on the road to start the season as for the Eagles they would come in 1-0. The game would start off tight as the Eagles would have a slim 16-12 lead after the game's first eight minutes. In the second quarter, the game would stay tight and the Hornets would fight to stay in the game as the Eagles would win the quarter 16-14 and take a 32-26 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the second half the Eagles came out firing and it looked like the Hornets were having issues getting the game going again as the Eagles would win the third 20-12 and take the 52-38 lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles would stay on the gas and win the quarter 16-9 to secure the 68-47 win. In the winning effort, the Eagles will go to 2-0 while the Hornets fall to 0-3 and both teams are back in action next week. Gallery

The Lasalle defender would knock Beekmantown's Seamone (6) off the puck as he charged down the ice for the offensive zone. The Beekmantown Eagles would look to continue their hot start with another home contest against the Lasalle Cadets in nonconference action. The Eagles would get off to a fast start as they would get two goals in the opening period and take the 2-0 lead. When the second period came around, they would continue their hot hand as they added another two goals, both coming from Sam Bingel to take the 4-0 lead into the third period. In the third period, the Eagles would not let up having the big lead headed in as they would get three more goals two coming from Zack LaPier and one from Louis Sweenor to secure the 7-0 win for the Eagles. With the win, the Eagles go to 2-0 on the season and are yet to give up a goal after two shutout victories. Gallery

The two teams would be very evenly matched throughout the afternoon and both teams would take there chance at getting that opening goal of the game. It would be the opening night of the 2022-23 Boy's Hockey season and the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Lasalle Cadets at the AC North arena. It would be a very even game throughout to the point that there was no scoring in the first period of the game. The Cadets would get the opening goal of the game at the 4:44 mark of the second period to take the 1-0 lead. The game would remain there till the 2:16 mark of the third period when the Hornets would tie the game on the Braeden Calkins goal. The Hornets would keep the charge going and take the 2-1 lead with about ten minutes left in the game on Braeden Calkins on his second goal of the night. The Cadets would not go quietly though as they would tie the game with six minutes left and that is where the regulation would end. The teams would play a five-minute overtime with no resolution and the game would end in a 2-2. With the tie the teams start their season at 0-0-1 an Owen Chappel would make 32 saves on 34 shots on the night. The Hornets will be back in action tomorrow afternoon against Niskayuna while Lasalle will take on the Beekmantown Eagles. Gallery
