Rye's Sasha Vasyuta (27) with the pad save on the breakaway attempt by Northeastern Clinton's Lucas Bedard (17). It would be the consolation game of the Applebees' Beekmantown Winter Classic between the Rye Garnets and the Northeastern Clinton Cougars. It would be a matchup between a couple of evenly matched teams and there would be no scoring in the opening period. The Garnets would finally breakdown the wall at the 8:41 mark of the second period on the Cal McLoughlin goal to make it 1-0. The game would stay there til the six minute mark of the third period when the Cougars would tie the game up at one the Lucas Bedard goal. It was starting to look like overtime until Rye's Carter Bradford would come in on a breakaway and beat the goalie with 34 seconds left to give the Rye the 2-1 victory.
