Airborne Speedway Week 2 Nightlights

Joey Scarbrough (11vt) celebrates his first win of the season in victory lane after a pass on Michael Wright with two laps to go for the win. It would be the second racing weekend of the season from the Airborne Speedway and it would see the four main divisions of the season in racing action with the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified, Hartson Total Opening Renegades, Taylor Rental Street Stocks, and the Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified on Law Enforcement Night. There would be a slight delay at the start of the action as the dust and sun setting was making it very difficult for the drivers to see down the backstretch so they would do some more track prep before the start of the racing action. Once the racing would get underway there would be great battles throughout the divisions and minimal numbers of cautions on the evening. All racing was done around 9:30. Once the heat races were over it would be on to and the first feature out of the box would be the Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified. It would see Mike Arnold get his second straight win to start the season as he would get the wire-to-wire victory over Rick Frenyea and Parker Derdomey. Then next up would be the Taylor Rental Street Stock for there 15 lap event and it would be another race that would caution free but it would be not without great racing competition as it would see Jake Fountain and Rich Doner battle for the early race lead which Fountain would get and hold on for his first win of the season and then there would be a great battle down the stretch with Doner and Josh Laporte Jr for second which would see Doner hold on for second place with Laporte getting third. Then it would be on to the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified and that would see Michael Wright start on the pole and just take off on the field but there would be a hard-charging Joey Scarbrough that would come from his ninth starting spot and with two laps to go be on the back bumper of Michael Wright and would use the lap car as a pick for the winning pass to get the win Michael Wright would get second and Craig Worley would finish out the podium. Then it would be the last race of the night with the Hartson Total Opening Renegades in there 25 lap main event and would see Billy Thwaits have a great battle with the Terry Brothers in the closing laps for the win on a late-race restart to get his first win of the season to send the crowd home happy and wanted more next. Speaking of next week the track will come back to life with racing action with the four weekly divisions back in action. Gallery
