Matt LaValley (29c), Josh LaPorte Jr (4) and Ryan Senecal (94) all battling for the lead in the 15 lap Taylor Rental Street Stock feature. It would be the opening night of the 2023 season and the kick-off to the 69th season at the Airborne Speedway presented by the A Verdi Storage Containers and there would be five divisions in action on the evening with the Be Cool Heating and Air Conditioning 358 Modifieds, J+S Steel Sportsman Modified, Harson Total Opening Renegades, Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified and the Taylor Rental Street Stocks and there would be a total of 111 cars in the pits. Once all the heat races were over it would be onto the main events of the night and the first out of the box would be the J+S Steel Sportsman Modified it would see Jamy Begor get off to the quick start and take the early lead but there would be a restart midway through the race and it would see Chris Cayea use the high side to advantage and pull away for the win while Gabriel Cyr would beat Begor on the last lap to round out the top three on the night. Then next up would be the return of the 358 Modifieds to the Airborne Speedway with their 30-lap feature which would see Lance Willix get the win in dominating fashion as he would lead all thirty laps for the win. Although he would not be without competition as he would be alongside Chris Raabe for the restart and Raabe would be for a few laps and then Willix would just pull away for the win. There would be a nice battle for second in the closing laps as Chris Raabe and David Herbet would jostle for the position back in fourth but in the end, it would be Raabe second and Hebert third. Then it would be onto the Hartson Total Opening Renegades for there 25 lap feature event and would see a battle between Josh Terry and a guy making his return to the track after a hard mid-season wreck last year keep out the rest of the season and Duquette would get the win using his patterned bottom lane and hugging the grass for the win and Jason Boggett would finish third to round out the top three. Then we would be onto the Northern Blacktopping Limited Sportsman Modified and it would see a first-timer getting the win as Mike Arnold would get the win in the fifteen-lap caution-free event. Then to finish off the night it would be the Taylor Rental Street Stocks in their fifteen-lap event with nearly 30 cars on the track. It would take the race a few tries to get going as there would be several cautions in the first few laps of the race but once the dust settled Mat LaValley would come away with the win after a hard battle with Josh LaPorte and Ryan Senecal would round out the top three. The Airborne Speedway will come back to life next Saturday night May 13th with the Sportsman Modified, Limited Sportsman Modified, Renegades, and the Street Stocks on Law Enforcement night.Gallery
