Plattsburgh's Jace Calkins (10) picks off the pass and rifles the shot on net and ties the game at three late in the game. It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boy's hockey as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers in the next to last game of the season. The Lakers would not be the best of guests as they would get the opening goal of the game with just over a minute left in the opening period as Kellan Duffey would find the back of the net for the 1-0 Lakers lead with the lone goal of the period. Although the Hornets would fight back in the early stages of the second period and get the game tied up on the shorthanded goal by Jace Lacey 3:13 into the period. The game would stay there til the 10:10 mark of the period when Jon Kratts would score on the powerplay to retake the one-goal lead at 2-1. Then exactly three minutes later the Lakers would double up their lead at 3-1 on the Kaden Darrah goal and that's how the period won ended. The home Hornets would keep fighting through and get them back within one on the Jace Lacey goal at the 4:29 mark of the third period. The Hornets would keep coming and with just over two minutes left in the game they would get the game-tying goal off a turnover that Jade Calkins would pick off the pass and bet the Lakers netminder on the breakaway and send the game to overtime. In the overtime, the Hornet's Jace Lacey would rip the shoot on the powerplay and beat the Lakers netminder for the game-winner and the hat trick on the night as the Hornets get the 4-3 win and go to 3-13 on the season while the Lakers will finish off the regular season at 6-8. The Hornets will finish off their season Friday, February 17th as they travel to Rouses Point and take on the Cougars to close out the year. Gallery
