Matt Leonard (22) leads Ty David (14) through turn turn 3/4 on his way to his first Novice Sportsman Modified victory. It would be the tenth night of racing at the Mohawk International Raceway and the second round of the M.I.R. Sportsman Series on Lazore Construction night also in action that night were the Bandits, Mod Lites, and the Novice Sportsman. Once the dust settled from the heat races it was on to the main events of the evening and first up were the Bandits for their first of two mains and in the first one it would be Mohawk staple Francis White dueling with the invader Nathan Smart for the win and in the end, the win would go to Nathan Smart. Then we would see the stars of tomorrow take to the track in the Novice Sportsman Modified and the win would go to a first-time winner at Mohawk in Matt Leonard. Then the bandits would return to the track for their second main event of the night and this time Francis White would waste little time and running away and hiding and picking up yet another win on the season. Then it would be time for the one everyone was waiting for the 35 laps second round of the M.I.R. Sportsman series for the sportsman modified. The race would start with Ricky Thompson getting the lead off the start of the race and he would be able to hold on to the lead for the first five laps when Dustin Bradley would get around for the lead. Bradley would be in control of the race till lap 9 when Justin Stone would take the lead and would be able to hold on for the win but that would be not without a challenge from Nick Heywood and DJ Gonyo. Then to finish up the night would be the popular Mod Lites for 15 laps and Tristan Dibble would leave little to be decided as he would take the lead on lap 2 and just walk away from the field for his second straight victory and padding his points lead in the division.
