Saranac's Nolan Miner (9) with the game-winner in overtime and the celebration would be on the team advances to the finals. It would be the semi-finals of the Section VII Boy's Hockey Playoffs and we would have the #3 Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers traveling to Plattsburgh to take on the #2 Saranac Chiefs for the right to head to the Section VII Championship on February 27th against the #1 Beekmantown Eagles. It would be a great game between two evenly matched teams that would split their two regular-season meetings with both teams winning on their home ice. Neither team was willing to end their season on this night and they would end up going through the whole regulation game time without either team scoring. So then in accordance with the Section VII playoffs rules they would play a regular length period in overtime with the first team scoring being declared the winner. In that period the Chiefs would get the game-winner 5:27 into the overtime when Nolan Miner would score on the scramble in front of the net off the rebound to give the Chiefs the 1-0 win. In the winning effort, the Saranac Chiefs would advance to the Section VII Championship as Joey Mitchell would make 31 saves as the Chiefs go to 12-7-2 on the season. Gallery

Beekmantown's Sam Bingel (11) slides the puck under Northeastern Clinton's Peter Judkins's (1) pad for one of his two goals on the evening. It would be the semi-finals of the Section VII Boy's Hockey D2 playoffs. The #1 Beekmantown Eagles would be hosting the #4 Northeastern Clinton Cougars who advance to the semi-finals earlier in the week with a win over the Plattsburgh Hornets. The winner of this semi-final match would advance to the Section VII Championship on February 27th against the winner of the Saranac Chiefs and Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers game. The game would start off well for the home Eagles as they would get the opening goal of the game just 29 seconds into the game on the Luke Moser goal. The Cougars would come right back though and tie the game up at the 5:41 mark of the period on the Marcus Bedard goal. The Eagles would keep swinging and take the lead back at the halfway mark of the period when Zack Lapier would light the lamp and give the Eagles the 2-1 lead. The Eagles would be able to expand their lead to two goals at 3-1 at the 14:11 mark on the Sam Bingel goal and that's where the first period would come to an end. When the teams returned for the second the Cougars would score 3:50 into the second to make it a one-goal game at 3-2 on the Willie Simpson goal. Although the one-goal game would be short-lived as Luke Moser would answer just 68 seconds later to make it a 4-2 game again. Then with just over a minute left in the period Eagles Sam Bingel would get the second goal of the game to send them into the locker room with a 5-2 lead. The Eagles would extend their lead to 6-2 on the short-handed goal at the 10:10 mark of the third period when Zack Lapier scored. Then in the final four minutes of the game, the Eagles would add three more goals from Lee Jarus, Louis Sweenor, and Keegan Seamone as they would get the 9-2 victory. Northeastern Clinton's Will Simpson with the shot and the goal that he sticks in the top shelf as part of the hat trick the night. It would be the opening game of the New York State Section VII Boy's Hockey Quarterfinals and the #5 Plattsburgh Hornets would travel up to the Rouses Point Civic Center and take on the #4 Northeastern Clinton Cougars with the winner getting the right to play the #1 Beekmantown Eagles. The game would start off well for the visiting Hornets as they would get the opening goal of the game on the Jace Lacey goal at the 12:07 mark of the first period for the 1-0 Hornets lead. Then with just over a minute left in the opening period, Jace Lacey would strike again to give the upset-minded Hornets the 2-0 lead as the first period would come to end. Although when the teams would return to the second period the Cougars would cut the lead down to one just 5:17 into the period on the Marcus Bedard goal. The Cougars would keep the rush going and tie the game up at two just 22 seconds later on the Will Simpson goal and that's how the second period would come to end. The Cougars would start off the third period on fire with the go-ahead goal just 36 seconds into the third period on Will Simpson's second goal of the game for the 3-2 Cougars lead. The Hornets would keep the swarming and tie the game up at three with just over ten minutes left in the game on the Jace Lacey hat trick goal/ The tie would be short-lived though as the Cougars would retake the lead at 4-3 just over a minute later on the Lucas Hemingway goal. Then with just over five minutes left in the game, the Cougars would take the two-goal lead on the Will Simpson hat trick goal for the 5-3 lead. Although the Hornets would not just roll over and let the game go as they would score with the extra attacker with 12 seconds left in the game on the Braeden Calkins goal for the 5-4 game and that's where it would end. In the winning effort the #4 Northeastern Clinton Cougars advance to the semi-finals and will play the #1 Beekmantown Eagles as Peter Judkins would make 11 saves in the win. Northern Adirondack Bobcats @ Plattsburgh Hornets February 20th 2023

Northern Adirondack's Matthew Boulrice (22) with the tip back for the basket as the Bobcats would get the 75-52 win. It would be the last game of the regular season inside section VII and would be a reschedule from an earlier game in the season due to replacement weather. The game would start off a with high flying pace that would play right into the hands of the Bobcats as they would race out to a 21-14 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the high-flying pace would continue as the Bobcats would jump on a 23-15 quarter and take a 44-29 lead into the intermission. When the teams returned for the third quarter the hot hand for the Bobcats would continue and they would have an 18-12 quarter and take a 62-41 lead into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, there would be no give in the Bobcats as they would have a 13-11 quarter and secure the 75-52 victory. In the winning effort, the Northern Adirondack Bobcats would finish the regular season at 11-9 and will get the #3 seed in the upcoming Section VII Class C Tournament and will face the Northeastern Clinton Cougars in the semi-finals. While the Plattsburgh Hornets will finish their season at 7-11 will get the #3 seed in the Section VII Class B Tournament and will host the #6 Peru Nighthawks in the first round of the tournament. Northeastern Clinton's Willie Simpson (18) comes in on the breakaway and beats Plattsburgh's Owen Chapple for the score and at time 4-1 lead. It would be the last game of the regular season in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference Boy's Hockey season and it would be between the host Plattsburgh Hornets and the Northeastern Clinton Cougars the winner of the game would host the play-in game of the playoffs of Tuesday. It would be a tight game throughout the early stages of the game as both teams looked like they didn't want to give up the first goal of the game and with that, the first period would go scoreless. The Cougars would finally break through and get the game's opening goal at the 4:02 mark of the second period on the Willie Simpson goal for the 1-0 lead. The game would stay there till there was 3:47 left in the period when Scott Wrye would score to give the Cougars the 2-0 lead. The game would stay there till the 9:28 mark of the third period when Carter Fredette would score to give the Cougars the 3-0 lead. The Hornets would finally break through and get on the board at the 13:09 mark of the third period as Braeden Calkins's goal make it a 3-1 game. Although the two-goal deficit would be short-lived as Cougars Willie Simpson would score just 40 seconds later for his second goal of the night and retake the 4-1 lead. Although the Hornets would keep fighting and they would score in the final of the game on the Jace Lacey 4x4 goal to make it 4-2. With the Northeastern Clinton Cougars win they will host the Plattsburgh Hornets in the play-in game of the upcoming sectional playoffs Tuesday with the winner getting the right to play #1 Beekmantown Eagles in the sectional semi-finals. #15 Saranac Chiefs @ #2 Beekmantown Eagles February 18th 2023

Beekmantown's Keegin Rodier (15) with the shot directly off the face-off. It would be a matchup of a pair of top 15 teams in the state inside section vii and it would feature the #15 Saranac Chiefs traveling up the road to play the #2 Beekmantown Eagles in the season finale. The Eagles would strike first and quick with the Zach Lapier goal to make it a 1-0 Eagles 3:10 into the game. Then just over five minutes later the Eagles would score again to make it a 2-0 lead on the Sam Bingel goal. Then in the closing seconds of the period, the Eagles would make it 3-0 on the Quinn Brandell goal. The game would stay there till the 9:48 mark of the second period when Louis Sweenor would snip in from the blue line and make it a 4-0 game. Then just two minutes later the Eagles would make it a 5-0 game as Luke Moser would score from the slot. Then with 40 seconds left in the period Parker Broughton would score on the scramble in front of the net for the 6-0 game. The game would stay there always till the last minute of the game when Luke Moser would get his second of the game for the 7-0 win. In the winning effort, the Beekmantown Eagles would win the regular season crown and take the first seed in the upcoming playoffs and will meet up with the winner of Northeastern Clinton and Plattsburgh Hornets in the semi-final. Northern Adirondack's Isabella Gilmore (5) with the block on the layup attempt by Bailey Hewson (10) as she drove the basket. It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference and the last home game for the Plattsburgh Hornets as they would take on the #17 Northern Adirondack Bobcats. It would be a low-scoring tight game through the first quarter as it would be tied at nine. In the second quarter, the Bobcats would start to find their shot and win the quarter 13-7 and have the halftime lead at 22-16. When the teams would return for the third quarter the game would take a 180 turn and the Hornets would win the quarter 17-11 and tie the game at 33 as they entered the 4th quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Bobcats would take control of the game again with a 16-9 quarter and get the 49-42 win. In the winning effort, the Northern Adirondack Bobcats go to 15-4 while the Plattsburgh Hornets fall to 11-8 on the season as the teams head to the playoffs. Gallery

The Hornets celebrate their overtime winner and their first league win of the season the Jace Lacey snip. It would be a matchup inside the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boy's hockey as the Plattsburgh Hornets would host the Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers in the next to last game of the season. The Lakers would not be the best of guests as they would get the opening goal of the game with just over a minute left in the opening period as Kellan Duffey would find the back of the net for the 1-0 Lakers lead with the lone goal of the period. Although the Hornets would fight back in the early stages of the second period and get the game tied up on the shorthanded goal by Jace Lacey 3:13 into the period. The game would stay there til the 10:10 mark of the period when Jon Kratts would score on the powerplay to retake the one-goal lead at 2-1. Then exactly three minutes later the Lakers would double up their lead at 3-1 on the Kaden Darrah goal and that's how the period won ended. The home Hornets would keep fighting through and get them back within one on the Jace Lacey goal at the 4:29 mark of the third period. The Hornets would keep coming and with just over two minutes left in the game they would get the game-tying goal off a turnover that Jade Calkins would pick off the pass and bet the Lakers netminder on the breakaway and send the game to overtime. In the overtime, the Hornet's Jace Lacey would rip the shoot on the powerplay and beat the Lakers netminder for the game-winner and the hat trick on the night as the Hornets get the 4-3 win and go to 3-13 on the season while the Lakers will finish off the regular season at 6-8. Plattsburgh's (12) with the block on Peru's Destiny Snider (1) as she drove hard to the basket. It would be the rivalry matchup and senior night at Plattsburgh High as they would host the Peru Nighthawks in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference action. The game would start off slow as there was no scoring in the game for almost the first three minutes of the game but when the scoring came the Hornets would shootout to a 15-11 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the teams would have better luck at the rim throughout, though it would be another 15-11 quarter for the Hornets to give them a 30-22 lead as they went into the locker room. When the teams returned for the third quarter it was a defensive quarter with the Nighthawks winning the low-scoring quarter by the slimness of margins at 7-6 but the Hornets would have the 36-29 lead as they enter the 4th quarter. In the fourth quarter, both offenses would come to play as it would be a 15-13 quarter for the Hornets and they would get the win 51-41. With the win the Hornets will go to 11-8 on the season and will play the Northern Adirondack Bobcats on February 16th will the Nighthawks will fall to 8-10 on the season as they head into their matchup against Northeastern Clinton. #12 Saranac Chiefs @ Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Lakers February 13th 2023

Saranac Lake-Lake Placid's Carson St. Louis (11) beats Saranac's Mason Patnode (45) for one of his three goals on the night. It would be a matchup between the Saranac's in the Champlain Valley Athletic Conference as the Saranac Lake-Lake Placid Lakers would host the #12 Saranac Chiefs at the Saranac Lake Civic Center The Chiefs would not be a very nice guest as they would score just 49 seconds into the game and get the quick 1-0 lead. Although the Lakers would have a quick response and tie the game at one just 50 seconds later so 98 seconds into the game and we would have two goals already. Just 90 seconds later the home Lakers would take the 2-1 lead on the Carson St. Louis goal. The game would stay there til just under three minutes left in the period the Chiefs would tie the game at 2 on the Zach O'Connell goal. The game would stay there till the 6:25 mark of the second period when the Lakers would regain the one-goal lead on Carson St. Louis's second goal of the night for the 3-2 game. However, the Chiefs would not give up this fight as Landen Duprey would score with three minutes left in the second period to tie the game up once again. In the third period, the Laker's offense would come alive and they would have three unanswered goals including the hat trick goal by Carson St. Louis as the Lakers would get the 6-3 victory.
